Job OverviewAs an HVAC Installer at GSM Services, you’ll be responsible for commercial HVAC installations, adhering to industry standards and company expectations for safety, performance, and quality.
Skill Levels & ResponsibilitiesLevel I: Foundational Installer SkillsDemonstrate excellent motor and listening skillsClimb an 8 ft. ladder safely and work with both hands freeOperate cordless drills and install screw chucksJoin pipe with #8 x ¾ screws and accurately mark/measure using a tapeIdentify split system components:Condenser, Evaporator, Furnace, Thermostat, Flue, Condensate Lines, Fuel Lines, Refrigerant LinesBuild and install condensate traps (Part # Trap 1), PVC drains, and condensate pumpsInstall flex duct to collar and smoke detectorsUse and understand PPE and crane hand signalsLevel II: Intermediate Technical AbilityAll Level I tasks, plus:CSST CertificationWire thermostats and HVAC unitsRead model numbers and determine system tonnagePass apprentice competency and plan symbol testsDemonstrate knowledge of GSM installation standardsLevel III: Advanced Installer/Mechanic PrepAll Level I & II tasks, plus:Read/interpret mechanical drawings and equipment manualsUse and explain a ductulatorSize gas piping per mechanical codeDemonstrate working knowledge of mechanical codePass wiring symbol testLead projects in team leader’s absenceWork toward obtaining GSM Journeyman Card (required for Mechanic-level advancement)Can build a condensate trap per Part # Trap 1Drains-pvc on package units, condensing furnaces Position RequirementsValid Driver’s License (clean driving record)Neat appearance and compliance with uniform standardsExceptional punctuality, attendance, and professional attitudeAbility to read/write at a high school levelTraining or ability to read and interpret HVAC drawingsMust own a starter tool set plus higher-end toolsPowder Gun & AWP Certifications required (or ability to obtain)Leadership & Growth ExpectationsWe’re looking for more than just an installer—we’re hiring for future leaders.
