Mechancial Engineering Level 1 at Spectral Systems, LLC – Hopewell Junction, New York

I. POSITION PURPOSE: This position provides the mechanical engineering function within the engineering department. In general, work is to be

performed in support of ‘Spectral Systems’, a division of Omega Optical Holdings, Quality Statement’. To perform this job successfully, an individual

must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner.

II. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

· Provides our customers with outstanding value, service and product quality.

· Supports a comprehensive system for managing designs and drawings for Spectral Systems. The maintenance will include development,

deployment, monitoring, evaluation and documentation for associated equipment, tools, suppliers, files and programs.

· Teams with sales, manufacturing, purchasing, quality control and department personnel to assure processes and systems function at a

level that is capable of meeting or exceeding the production quality, value and service expectations of our customers.

· Maintains tooling, fixtures and equipment per scheduled service requirements and the Engineering Manager’s directives.

· Supports documentation such as data collection, travelers, pick sheets, WIP, product performance charts and product yield information.

· Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of product, equipment, tools and supplies within assigned work areas.

· Teams with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality control, sales and other project members to effectively and efficiently

transfer new products or processes from concept into production.

· Identifies tooling and equipment needs and makes recommendations to the Engineering Manager for their purchase or modification.

· Teams with engineering, manufacturing, quality control, purchasing, sales and cell personnel to integrate into manufacturing new or

modified equipment, tooling, process, procedures, SOP’s, safety requirements and help provide training as required.

· Reports in detail to the Engineering Manager progress towards individual assignments and projects. Also, reports progress towards

department, individual goals and any departmental issue.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/training: ?Required: Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering from a certified college or university.

Experience:

Required: 0-5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, preferred experience with a company that fabricates or coats optics and/or optical components.

Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work within a team environment

Ability to work with little supervision towards company goals

Experience and knowledge in the use of SolidWorks or similar drawing program Skilled in forming spreadsheets for data entry and capable of data analysis through statistical methodologies

Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization Mechanically inclined with a history of strong hands-on experience a plus
