About the Role
We have a current opening for a Middle School Math Teacher. The math teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that develops students problem-solving skills, conceptual understanding, and fluency in mathematics. Lessons should be aligned to the New York State Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards, with a focus on preparing students for success on the NYS Grades 58 Math Assessments and beyond.

We are seeking a positive, flexible, and solutions-oriented educator who is passionate about closing the achievement gap and equipping studentsparticularly in urban communitieswith the tools to thrive academically and personally. Experience with technology-rich, interactive lessons is a plus.

Teachers will participate in regular data meetings, engage in peer and administrative observations, and attend ongoing professional development throughout the year.

Responsibilities
  • Use the provided curriculum to design rigorous, differentiated, and engaging math lessons.
  • Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and tools to support all learners.
  • Use standards-aligned formative and summative assessments to measure student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Develop lesson plans for both in-person and virtual instruction.
  • Maintain an organized and engaging online classroom via Google Classroom.
  • Attend planning and data meetings with coaches and colleagues.
  • Participate in weekly schoolwide professional development sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records in online student information systems (SchoolTool, Google Classroom, Kickboard).
  • Implement consistent expectations for student behavior, in alignment with school core values and code of conduct.
  • Create a positive, structured classroom environment that fosters high academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Support and participate in grade-level activities and schoolwide events.
  • Attend and actively engage in the annual two-week staff orientation and training.
Location & Commitments
  • School day: 7:30 AM 4:00 PM, MondayFriday.
  • School year: Mid-August through late June.
  • Must be able to teach in-person in Mount Vernon, NY
Qualifications
  • Masters degree (required).
  • NYS Teaching Certification in Mathematics (required).
  • At least 2 years teaching experience (preferred).
  • Experience teaching middle school-aged students (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Google Classroom.
