R.N. at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital – Clinton, Missouri

The Registered Nurse - Circulator is responsible for ensuring patients receive professional nursing care during their appointment. The RN will also be responsible for coordinating patient care functions within the operating room with other disciplines and providers.

DUTIES:
- Preoperative assessment of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Reviews patient’s medical records and needs and coordinates care with anesthesia staff.
- Assesses patient status, pertinent lab work, allergies and vital signs and notifies physician of any potential foreseen complications or contraindication to procedure and discusses with anesthesia staff.
- Provides education to the patient and family regarding intraoperative phase routine.
- Participates in time-out process by ensuring correct patient, surgical site and intervention.
- Circulates, assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, devices and supplies to the surgical team. Anticipate needs of the surgical team throughout the procedure.
- Evaluates and implements standing orders/protocols as needed based on patient's status.
- Assists with turning over and setting up procedure room, surgical tables and equipment preparation for procedures as needed.
- Documents procedural process.
- Dispenses appropriate medications as directed by physician.
- Provides work guidance, support and instruction to peers and other staff members.
- Monitors all clinical activities related to patient procedures.
- Monitors and oversees the flow of procedures and room turnover. Ensures procedure room is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
- Communicates with the MD regarding flow of cases, add-on cases, delays, and/or cancellations.
- Monitors daily schedule for changes and works to ensure efficient flow of procedures.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Missouri RN license in good standing
Minimum of two years nursing experience desired
Current BLS certification; ACLS certification must be obtained within six months of hire
Must be able to reach hospital within 30 minutes for "on call"

Starting Range: $32.84 - $41.05
