About This Position
MacDonald Realty is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team at our home office in DeSoto, Texas. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that our growing, multi-state team is paid accurately, consistently, and on time. As a vital member of our HR and payroll operations, you’ll help support the smooth and efficient processing of payroll for employees across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll in compliance with applicable laws and deadlines using ADP Workforce Now
- Handle off-cycle payroll transactions, including prior period adjustments and termination payouts
- Collaborate with various company locations to gather necessary payroll data
- Provide prompt and professional customer service for employee payroll and timecard inquiries
- Maintain and update employee records, including benefit deductions, retirement contributions, wage garnishments, income withholding orders (IWOs), bonuses, employee purchases, and direct deposit information
- Audit payroll and timesheet entries for accuracy and compliance
- Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution
- Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly payroll reports to management
- Maintain employment records related to hiring, transfers, promotions, and terminations
- Process employment verifications, unemployment claims, and account updates
- Perform other duties as assigned by the HR Director
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience
- Experience with multi-state and multi-unit payroll
- Strong understanding of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll tax compliance
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build strong working relationships in a team environment
- High level of integrity with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting employee records
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Position Type & Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with standard hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Initial training will take place onsite at our DeSoto office. Upon completion of training, the role will transition to a hybrid work schedule.
