Job Description
Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our Breast Specialists Center team. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting providers and delivering exceptional patient care throughout the continuum of breast health services. This position assists with clinical and administrative duties while helping create a supportive and reassuring environment for patients.
The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and committed to providing outstanding care to patients navigating breast health evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for provider visits.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and patient concerns.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of supplies.
- Perform clinical tasks within scope of practice, including injections, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing as directed.
- Provide patient education and reinforce provider instructions regarding treatment plans and follow-up care.
- Coordinate diagnostic testing, imaging, laboratory services, and referrals.
- Assist with breast imaging and biopsy scheduling as directed.
- Monitor and maintain clinical inventory and medical supplies.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety protocols.
- Document patient information accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist with patient scheduling and appointment coordination.
- Process prescription refill requests according to provider protocols.
- Complete prior authorizations and referral documentation as assigned.
- Manage patient communications, including phone calls, messages, and follow-up requests.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Support providers and clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical experience.
- Current Medical Assistant certification or eligibility to obtain certification preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and computer applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience in a specialty or surgical practice.
- Experience working in breast health, oncology, women's health, surgery, or related specialties.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Experience with insurance authorizations and referrals.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to assist patients as needed during examinations and procedures.
