Summary/Objective
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Consultant will visit existing clients in Pinellas County on an ongoing basis to provide risk control, hazard analysis, and recommendations to remediate identified hazards and problems. This role serves as a critical link between DecisionHR’s Risk Management function and its clients, helping reduce workplace injuries and strengthen workers’ compensation outcomes.
The ideal candidate must reside 15 to 20 minutes from Pinellas County.
Essential Functions
- Risk Assessment Visits & Reporting — Conduct on-site visits to client locations to identify worksite risk exposures and make recommendations to correct or eliminate hazardous conditions. All clients are to be visited every six months. An additional visit is required when a client has an indemnity accident or three medical-only accidents within any given month.
- Client Safety Program Development — Develop client-level risk management, risk control, and safety processes to strengthen workers’ compensation related activities and reduce workplace injuries, including the development of customized safety programs.
- Risk Management Recommendations & Progress Monitoring — Provide client management with verbal and written risk management, risk control, and safety recommendations; subsequently measure and document client progress with those recommendations.
- Needs Assessment & Service Planning — For each new client, prepare a Needs Assessment/Service Plan that includes the reason for service, nature of services to be provided, and frequency of visit.
- Underwriting Site Visits — Perform underwriting visits to prospective clients on an as-needed basis to examine business operations, assess risk exposure, and evaluate premium and price adequacy.
- Workers’ Compensation Class Code Verification — Verify workers’ compensation class codes at initial and subsequent visits to ensure the correct code is matched to actual duties performed.
- Accident Investigation & Return-to-Work Support — Conduct accident investigations and assist the claims department with enforcement of the return-to-work policy when needed.
- Client Service Liaison — Discuss quality of service with clients during visits; act as a customer service liaison between the client and the appropriate internal department to resolve any issues or concerns.
- Follow company policies and procedures required to comply with applicable data privacy and confidentiality requirements, including but not limited to SOC controls and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- 2–4 years of experience in safety prevention and/or risk management.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Must reside within 15 to 20 minutes of Pinellas County, FL.
Preferred Education and Experience
- PEO industry experience.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation or equivalent certification.
