About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within various healthcare settings across the United States. This position involves providing direct nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring patients' comfort, safety, and well-being. The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patient health, administering medications, and assisting with medical procedures to support treatment plans. Additionally, the role requires effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care and provide education. Ultimately, the LPN contributes to positive patient outcomes by maintaining accurate records and adhering to established healthcare protocols and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing principles, patient care techniques, and medical terminology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a clinical or long-term care setting.
  • Additional certifications such as IV therapy, wound care, or geriatric nursing.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to speak a second language relevant to the patient population served.
  • Continuing education or specialized training in areas such as chronic disease management or patient education.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs and reporting changes in patient condition.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely according to established guidelines.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility to promote comfort and independence.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses and physicians to implement and update individualized care plans.
  • Document patient information, care provided, and observations in medical records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in compliance with healthcare regulations and infection control standards.

Skills:

The LPN utilizes clinical skills daily to assess patient conditions, administer medications, and perform nursing procedures with precision and care. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive care delivery. Organizational skills enable the LPN to maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple patient needs efficiently. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are applied when monitoring patient responses and adjusting care as necessary under supervision. Additionally, proficiency with healthcare technology, including electronic health records, enhances the LPN's ability to document and access patient information securely and effectively.
