About Sims HD Heavy Moving Solutions
Who We Are SimsHD is a Tampa, Florida-based heavy hauling, rigging, and construction hoist company. We share a family legacy and a name with Sims Crane & Equipment, but SimsHD is a separate business — our own team, our own equipment, and our own focus: transporting, lifting, and placing the heavy, high-value equipment that keeps Florida’s industries moving. From hauling oversized industrial machinery across the state to rigging a delicate piece of equipment into a tight space, our crews specialize in the jobs that demand precision as much as horsepower. Operating out of our Tampa headquarters, SimsHD works on projects throughout Florida — and we’re growing.
A Message from Erika Sims, CEO “I grew up around cranes, but I built SimsHD around people. We started this company because our customers needed a partner who could handle the transportation and rigging side of a project with the same level of care we put into the lift itself. Today, SimsHD is a small, close-knit team taking on big, complicated work across Florida — and I’m proud of every person who wears our name on a jobsite. If you’re looking for a place where your work is seen, your voice matters, and doing the job right is non-negotiable, I hope you’ll consider joining us.” — Erika Sims, Chief Executive Officer, SimsHD
The SimsHD Operating Tenets Every job we take on, and everyone we hire, is measured against six tenets that guide how we work:
1. If it isn’t safe, it isn’t successful. No job is worth an injury — safety comes before schedule, every time.
2. We do the job right the first time. Preparation and precision are how we protect our customers’ equipment and our reputation.
3. Everyone owns the result. From the driver to the rigger to the project lead, every person on a SimsHD job is responsible for the outcome.
4. Experience matters — we learn from each other. Our best training comes from crew members who’ve been doing this for years, teaching the ones just getting started.
5. Our name goes on every job. We treat every project like our name is on the invoice, because it is.
6. Strong results come from strong people. We invest in our team because the quality of our work starts with the quality of our people.
SimsHD is looking for experienced CDL Drivers who want to be part of a professional heavy-haul and machinery moving team — not just someone who wants to drive from Point A to Point B.
Our work requires precision, teamwork, and pride in execution. The right candidate understands that moving oversized and industrial equipment safely requires both driving skill and jobsite capability.
This role is ideal for drivers who enjoy being part of the entire operation — transporting, rigging, and delivering complex projects safely and professionally.
Duties
- Operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions for short daily trips within local routes
- Rig and secure freight on flatbed, refrigerated trailers, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other freight carriers
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using forklifts or other lifting equipment as needed
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Safely drive route deliveries, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Assist in the setup and dismantling of rigging equipment for freight handling
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, inspection reports, and load documentation
Experience
- Active and in good standing CDL
- Proven truck driving experience with a focus on commercial driving and route delivery
- Familiarity with operating manual transmission trucks and various trailer types including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, dump truck, and roll-off trucks
- Prior experience in load securing, freight handling, or rigging operations preferred
- Ability to operate forklifts or similar lifting machinery safely (certification is a plus)
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to trucking and freight handling
- Delivery driver experience involving freight load & unload procedures highly desirable
This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to combine their rigging expertise with (CDL)professional truck driving within a supportive team environment.
What You'll Do

Responsibilities include:
- Safely operate CDL-licensed heavy haul trucks
- Transport oversized or specialized loads on local and regional routes
- Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and rigging equipment
- Assist with rigging, machinery moving, and equipment placement
- Participate in jobsite planning and safety meetings
- Work alongside rigging crews, operators, and project leads
- Inspect and maintain trucks, trailers, and equipment
- Follow all DOT, safety, and company operating standards
Most work is local or short-distance, and overnight travel is rare.
This is a hands-on operational role, not a “drop-and-go” driving position.

- Valid CDL License-Applications without CDL heavy haul experience will not be considered.
- Experience hauling heavy equipment or oversized loads
- Strong knowledge of load securement practices
- Ability and willingness to work on active jobsites

- Strong safety mindset and professional work ethic
Candidates who are only interested in driving and not participating in jobsite work will not be a good fit for this role.
Preferred Experience
The strongest candidates will also have experience with:
- Lowboy, step deck, or specialized trailers
- Industrial machinery moving or rigging
- Forklift operation
- Crane signaling or rigging certifications
