Position Summary
Manages maintenance technicians and is accountable for all facility maintenance, plant systems, machinery, and other facility requirements while role modelling Kanto’s Operating Priorities of Safety, Quality, and Productivity.

General Duties & Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
- Manages and directs maintenance technicians.*
- Provides hands-on daily technical coaching and expertise to ensure facilities equipment is operating safely and effectively. *
- Sets the pace, structures the work and prioritizes daily and weekly activities in support of facilities equipment uptime, maintenance and repair. *
- Coaches the maintenance technicians in problem solving, time management and results orientation. *
- Ensures clear commitments and activities are on schedule and within budget.
- Identifies and drives continuous improvement in equipment monitoring and uptime, maintenance policies and procedures, and supporting business processes. *
- Collaborates effectively with other groups through effective communication, ensuring safety-first focus, alignment with factory priorities and coordination on facilities downtime. *
- Ensures the maintenance team members understand, and all maintenance activities and functions comply with OSHA PSM standards at Kanto PMF. *
- Inspects plant and evaluates use of space and facilities.
- Plans, and schedules facilities modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and acquisitions. *
- Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications. *
- Analyzes company's HVAC systems, wiring, lighting, boilers, scrubbers and other factors, and makes recommendations for improvements. Coordination of building space allocation, layout, and communication services. *
- Maintains ultra-pure water and wastewater treatment processes, performing corrective action and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary. Conducts the installation, maintenance, and repair of Facilities machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems.*
- Confers with representatives of management to formulate policies, determine need for programs, and coordinate programs with plant activities. *
- Confers with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of plant activities with law enforcement and fire-fighting agencies.
- Must be able to work with limited guidance toward established objectives. *
- Must be able to be on call, on a shared rotation. On-call status includes carrying a company issued cell phone. *
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises one or more employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and in compliance with applicable agency regulations. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and guide work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Safety Responsibilities
Follows all applicable company and customer safety requirements. Attends required safety training and meetings and actively participates in identifying and resolving safety issues. Leads by example to promote and encourage company-wide safety. Trains employees to identify and resolve safety issues. Conducts periodic safety reviews and initiates corrective action as necessary. Responsible for maintaining safety manual and providing employees with access to manual.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Management, or a related technical field and five years’ experience in an industrial maintenance role; or an Associate’s degree from an accredited technical college or trade school with ten or more years of progressively responsible industrial maintenance experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, and experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial, chemical, semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, or similarly regulated environment, with demonstrated experience maintaining production equipment, facility systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- 5+ years of experience in a supervisory, manager, or similar leadership role within the facilities maintenance space. (Note that “Lead” titled work does not necessarily equate to supervisory experience.)
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, HVAC/refrigeration, plumbing, pumps, motors, valves, piping, controls, and other industrial facility or process-support systems.
- Previous experience leading or supervising maintenance employees, contractors, and maintenance activities is strongly preferred, including work planning, prioritization, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination of equipment downtime.
- Experience working within a preventive and predictive maintenance program and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including work orders, maintenance histories, inspections, and equipment documentation.
- Working knowledge of applicable OSHA requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, confined space, hazardous energy control, and safe work practices within an industrial environment.
- Must be certified, or able to obtain and maintain certification, as a Hazardous Materials Technician in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii) based on Kanto's emergency response requirements.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and maintenance-management systems, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
- Certificates, Licenses & Registrations: Must possess or obtain and maintain any refrigeration-related license or certification required for the equipment and refrigerants handled in the role, including applicable EPA Section 608 certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Equipment Reliability & Uptime: Maintains high availability of production and facility equipment while minimizing unplanned downtime and repeat failures.
- Preventive Maintenance Execution: Ensures preventive and predictive maintenance activities are completed on time, documented accurately, and effectively reduce equipment failures.
- Maintenance Response & Resolution: Responds quickly to equipment issues, prioritizes work appropriately, and restores operations safely and efficiently.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintains strong adherence to LOTO, hazardous materials, electrical safety, confined-space, and other applicable Kanto/OSHA requirements, with no preventable maintenance-related safety incidents.
- Quality of Repairs: Delivers durable repairs with minimal recurrence, rework, or production disruption.
- Team Leadership & Development: Builds technician capability through clear expectations, coaching, technical development, accountability, and effective work assignment.
- CMMS & Maintenance Discipline: Maintains accurate work orders, equipment histories, PM records, parts usage, and maintenance documentation.
- Planning & Prioritization: Effectively balances preventive maintenance, corrective work, projects, emergencies, and production priorities.
- Spare Parts & Cost Management: Maintains appropriate critical spare-parts availability while controlling maintenance spending, contractor costs, and unnecessary inventory.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Works effectively with Production, Engineering, EHS, Quality, and Facilities to coordinate downtime, resolve recurring problems, and support operational priorities.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifies recurring equipment issues, conducts effective root-cause analysis, and implements improvements that increase reliability, safety, and maintainability.
- Project & Contractor Execution: Completes assigned maintenance projects and contractor work safely, on schedule, within scope, and with minimal operational disruption.

Environment & Working Conditions
While performing the duties of the position, the employee regularly works handling moving mechanical parts and toxic, flammable, and corrosive liquid and fuming chemicals.
Work is regularly performed in an industrial production environment requiring the use of full body clean room attire, including head and face coverings, and full body PPE, including a hood style respirator.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places, accessed by ladders, scaffolding, and powered lift trucks.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, except for certain areas where noise may be occasionally moderate or loud for sustained periods of time
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to walk or stand for long periods of time, with brief periods of sitting.
Unassisted lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. is required.
The employee is periodically required to bend, stoop, kneel and crouch, with periodic requirements to climb stairs, ladders, or scaffolding.
