Position Description:

The Senior Exploration Geologist is responsible for leading and supporting exploration programs designed to identify, evaluate, and expand mineral resources in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role provides technical expertise in geological interpretation, drilling programs, data analysis, and resource evaluation to support exploration success and long-term mine development. Working closely with the Exploration Manager, geology team, and technical services staff, the Senior Exploration Geologist ensures that exploration activities are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company objectives. The role also supports geological modeling, data integration, and reporting, to advance exploration targets and resource development.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and execute exploration programs, including geological, geochemical, and geophysical investigations, mapping, sampling, and drilling.
- Assist with the identification and evaluation of new exploration targets and resource opportunities.
- Oversee field exploration activities to ensure work is conducted safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with drilling contractors and field teams to support exploration objectives.
- Mentoring less-experienced geologists in exploration methods.

● Geological Interpretation and Modeling ●
- Interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to support exploration targeting.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of geological models and exploration databases.
- Support resource estimation and geological interpretation for project evaluation.
- Plan and supervise drill programs, including drill hole planning, logging, and sampling procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation and QA/QC procedures for geological and assay data.
- Monitor drilling progress and evaluate results to refine exploration targets.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret exploration data to support technical reporting.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and exploration updates for management.
- Maintain accurate and organized geological records and databases.
- Ensure all exploration activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Promote safe field practices and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate support for environmental stewardship and responsible exploration practices.

● Team Collaboration and Mentorship ●
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior geologists and field technicians.
- Work collaboratively with geology, engineering, and operations teams.
- Participate in technical reviews, planning meetings, and exploration strategy discussions.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field required.
- At least 7–10 years of experience in mineral exploration, preferably in gold or precious metals projects.
- Experience with drill program management, geological logging, and sampling protocols.
- Strong knowledge of geological modeling and exploration data interpretation.
- Familiarity with geological software and database systems preferred.
- Understanding of resource estimation and ore deposit models.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
- A valid driver’s license is required.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

- Work performed in both office and remote field environments.
- Frequent travel to exploration sites and drilling locations.
- Ability to walk over rough terrain and uneven ground.
- Climbing slopes, hills, and working in remote locations may be required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs of field equipment or samples.
- Exposure to dust, noise, weather conditions, and outdoor environments typical of exploration work.
- PPE required when working in field locations.
