Tech, Medical Laboratory Technician -Full-Time

Job Summary

Performs medical laboratory procedures and reports results in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures


Medical Technologist Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, specimen processing.
  • Performs efficiently and accurately all aspects of lab testing from the pre-analytical phase through analytical and post analytical phases.
  • Participate in proficiency testing, QA, QC and process improvement activities.
  • Perform instrument maintenance.
  • Comply with all laboratory policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control.
  • Ensures delivery of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Revises plan of patient care as needed.
  • Provides compassion to the patient and the patient’s family members.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Associate's degree in medical laboratory science, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Required: 1-3 years Clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical laboratory training program.
  • Required: Experience in a hospital laboratory setting or medical related environment.
  • Required: Pass Fit Test
  • Required: Meet all Employee Health Requirement
  • Preferred: Certification in any of the following: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology), AMT (American Medical Technologies), NCA (National Credentialing Agency), or HEW (Health Education & Welfare).
  • Preferred: Preferred: BLS/CPR certification
  • Preferred: Phlebotomy certification
