Corporate Payroll Tax Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Corporate Payroll Tax Analyst based in the United States.

This is a fully remote opportunity focused on managing end-to-end payroll tax compliance across U.S. and U.K. operations.
You will take ownership of federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, payments, audits, notices, and amendments.
The role combines technical payroll expertise with hands-on systems and process management.
You will work extensively with Workday Payroll and TaxEx while supporting data integrity and reporting needs.
As a key member of the payroll function, you will also provide backup support for multi-state U.S. and U.K. payroll processing.
The position offers exposure to cross-functional projects involving HR, Accounting, and other internal stakeholders.
It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll tax professional to contribute to compliance, efficiency, and continuous process improvement.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the preparation, processing, and timely filing of federal, state, and local payroll tax returns and payments for U.S. and U.K. corporate payroll operations.
  • Audit payroll tax accounts across jurisdictions, investigate discrepancies, resolve tax notices, and prepare amendments when required.
  • Maintain Powers of Attorney and online tax agency accounts while ensuring registrations and jurisdictional information remain accurate and current.
  • Administer garnishment orders, including processing through tax systems and coordinating with garnishing trustees and government agencies.
  • Support year-end payroll tax activities, including W-2s, W-2Cs, and other regulatory filings.
  • Monitor changes to federal, state, and local payroll tax legislation and communicate relevant compliance implications to payroll leadership.
  • Serve as backup for biweekly U.S. multi-state and monthly U.K. payroll processing, including timesheets, leave, employee changes, adjustments, and off-cycle payments.
  • Maintain and support Workday Payroll configuration, administration, integrations, reporting, and data loads while helping troubleshoot system and processing issues.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, process checklists, reporting tools, and supporting documentation for payroll, tax, and garnishment activities.
  • Act as a triage-level point of contact for payroll and tax inquiries, researching issues and communicating clear resolutions to employees and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with HR, Accounting, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, Recruiting, and other teams on payroll-related initiatives and process improvements.
  • Participate in change management activities and identify opportunities to streamline payroll and tax processes while maintaining strong data integrity.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline; alternatively, 8+ years of equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 5 years of experience in payroll tax compliance, including tax filing, auditing, notice resolution, and amendment processing.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations in the United States and United Kingdom.
  • Strong working knowledge of Workday Payroll, including analyzing, troubleshooting, and reporting on system, data, and processing issues.
  • Experience using TaxEx or comparable payroll tax filing software.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with U.S. multi-state and/or U.K. payroll processing is preferred.
  • FPC or CPP certification and Workday certification are advantageous.
  • Experience managing garnishments and relationships with trustees or relevant agencies is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively across functions.
  • Ability to document processes clearly and work collaboratively with HR, Accounting, and other stakeholders in a changing environment.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, learning, and development.
  • Exposure to U.S. and U.K. payroll tax operations and complex multi-jurisdictional compliance.
  • Opportunities to work with Workday Payroll, tax technology, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional working environment.
  • Opportunities to contribute to strategic payroll and HR initiatives.
  • Additional benefits and compensation details may be provided during the employer's hiring process.
