Job Description
The Direct Care Staff is responsible for assisting, overseeing and instructing young parents with parenting skills and activities of daily living to ensure a safe and positive living environment. Direct Care Staff is responsible for always maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries while fostering a positive and mentoring relationship with young parent families.
Hours are Monday through Friday 9am-3pm
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the residents of the program to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.Must be alert and responsive to recognize and respond to emergency situations quickly,appropriatelyand effectively.Transport residents in agency provided minivan, as planned to various locations in the Merrimack Valley and the Boston area. Transporting residents in the agency minivan to all Service Plan related tasks totaling at minimum one to two work hours per shift.Assist and instruct residents in the activities of daily living and parenting skills utilizing the DCF sponsored PAYA (Preparing Adolescents for Young Adulthood)curriculum.Enforce program rules and regulations. Model appropriate behavior for young parents.Ensure that program policies and procedures are followed and report problems to the Program Director, Assistant Director and the On Call Administrator in a timely manner in accordance with program policy.Assist with the implementation of Service Plan tasks for each young parent family. Complete all documentation, incident reports, emailed end of shift reports and daily logs in a timely, clear and professional manner.Implement Med. Management Program as directed by the Program RN.Supervise all meal preparations prepared by young parents and ensure that all children are fed a nutritious meal at designated times.Provide oversight and assistance to ensure that all common areas, bedrooms and bathrooms of the facility are cleaned properly and maintained in a safe and healthy way. Participate in monthly staff meeting and biweekly supervision with the Assistant Director and or Program Director.Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.Attendance at internal and external meetings and training as required. Complete 24 hours of professional development yearly.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with prior related work or volunteer experience. Or, an Associates degree with three prior years of experience working with adolescents in a similar environment.Current CPR and First Aid training certification.Experience with de-escalation skills.Must understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work with a varied and occasionally difficult client population. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Bilingual, bicultural, Spanish, Khmer speaking ability preferred.Microsoft Office Suite and data base applications.A valid Massachusetts driver’s license and good driving record.Ability to lift, push and pull up to 10 pounds without assistance.Our benefits are competitive and include a 403(b) savings plan and generous time off (benefits may vary based on position and scheduled hours).

The base pay range reflects what Catholic Charities reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation in this range may be determined based on other factors, including but not limited to work experience, education and specialty training.
