Job Description
Under the supervision of the Rehab Services Manager coordinates, implements and supervises the cardiac rehabilitation/wellness/physical exercise program. Assists customers with development of programs to maximize their welfare and minimize injury and overtraining. Monitors and assesses patients, and reports status to physician. Checks equipment and participates in patient education sessions.
Requirements:Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing with current
Texas RN licensure.
Personal Job-related Skills: Must have effective oral and written communication skills in order to promote and implement health self-maintenance programs.
Licensure, Registry or Certification: Current Texas RN licensure, ACLS certification
Experience: One year experience in cardiac rehabilitation department as a RN
Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills:
· Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
· Implements, supervises and assists with exercises for cardiac rehabilitation patients, based on individual needs as prescribed by a physician.
· Assists with the orientation of new participants in the program.
· Participates in the initial counseling concerning patient admission to Phase II cardiac rehab and evaluation.
· Assists in the development of the plan of care with other team members.
· Monitors exercise sessions, monitoring patients for inappropriate responses to exercise.
· Completes blood pressure checks on all patients pre and post exercise and notes abnormal responses on the telemetry device.
· Assesses patients pre, during, and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the patient, other staff and medical director.
· Immediately reports any significant patient conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in patient’s status, etc.), to the physician supervising the program.
· Initiates ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to hospital policy
· Charts and documents daily patient information and progress.
· Leads patient education sessions.
· Demonstrates ability to assess/reassess education needs and exercise care needs for the treatment of cardiac disorders by age group served based on knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

· Demonstrates recognition of emergency codes and consistently implements appropriate emergency procedures
