About This Position

  • The Program Coordinator performs the primary functions of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the Observation Unit on a 24 hour basis.
  • Develops day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area. Directs and develops staff; demonstrates fiscal responsibility; collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; ensures an environment conducive to patient and family centered care.
  • Registered Nurses have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives. In addition, Registered Nurses must uphold the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Education
    • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing - BSN
  • Minimum Work Experience
    • 2 years of Leadership experience
    • 2 years of acute care experience
  • Required Licenses/Certifications
    • Registered Nurse
    • BLS (required prior to completion of orientation)
    • ACLS (required prior to completion of orientation)
    • NIHSS (required prior to completion of orientation)
  • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    • Ability to select, train, develop, and supervise human resources
    • Ability to improve outcomes through knowledge of quality assessment & performance improvement activities
    • Excellent human relations, oral/written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to effectively collaborate with community, consumers, physicians, and other members of the health care team
    • Audit, monitor, and retrieve data
    • Lead and coordinate Observation Unit meetings
    • Strong computer skills; inputs data into computer programs
    • Ability to handle confidential information
    • Ability to work with therapeutic equipment
  • Designated Driver
