This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal Knowledge & Research Manager based in United States.

This fully remote leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of legal research services through innovation, technology, and knowledge management.
You will lead a team of research professionals while delivering high-value insights that support attorneys, clients, and business stakeholders.
The role combines legal research expertise, team leadership, client engagement, and strategic technology adoption.

Accountabilities:

As a Legal Knowledge & Research Manager, you will oversee research operations, guide a talented team, and develop innovative approaches to delivering legal intelligence. You will combine leadership, legal research expertise, and technology enablement to enhance service quality and create measurable value for clients.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of research professionals through coaching, performance management, training, and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and client-focused research culture centered on accuracy, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage client relationships and serve as a strategic partner for research and knowledge service needs.
  • Oversee complex legal, regulatory, business, and competitive intelligence research projects to support attorneys and practice groups.
  • Ensure research deliverables are accurate, timely, relevant, and aligned with client objectives and risk considerations.
  • Promote best practices in legal research methodology, knowledge organization, information delivery, and knowledge sharing.
  • Guide the adoption and optimization of digital research resources, platforms, and knowledge management solutions.
  • Collaborate with technology, innovation, and business teams to improve research workflows and tool effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and support the implementation of AI-powered legal research, analytics, and intelligence technologies.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders by anticipating research needs and delivering actionable insights.
  • Lead research-focused projects, including workflow improvements, technology implementations, analytics initiatives, and service enhancements.
  • Develop project plans, monitor progress, and communicate outcomes, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive legal research experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for using technology to improve knowledge services. You should be comfortable managing teams, advising senior stakeholders, and translating complex information into practical insights.

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal research, competitive intelligence, knowledge services, or a related field within a law firm, professional services, or corporate environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing or leading a research team or function.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research platforms such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, and related analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform complex research findings into clear, actionable insights for attorneys and business leaders.
  • Experience managing research vendors, budgets, and data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Familiarity with emerging legal technologies, generative AI, agentic AI, and their applications in legal research.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
