Job Description
The Financial Planner helps the Financial Advisors maintain client relationships and accounts. This individual helps prepare and present financial plans to clients and monitors progress toward achieving client goals while maintaining all compliance and customer service standards. The Financial Planner ensures data integrity and prepares reports using various software applications. This position reports to the Branch Office Manager of the Virginia Beach, VA office.
Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- With the Financial Advisor, meets with clients and prospects to discuss and evaluate all aspects of financial planning and services.
- Builds, strengthens and retains client relationships by proactively meeting and, when possible, exceeding client expectations.
- Takes a strategic perspective in managing existing client relationships by understanding client goals and concerns and seeking solutions to client needs.
- Regularly communicates with clients to keep the Financial Advisor appraised of life events and changes in financial circumstances or goals.
- Provides a consistently positive client experience through excellent service and execution in maintaining client accounts.
- Displays deep industry knowledge in assisting clients.
- Participates in client meetings, documents notes and action items in the firm CRM, and follows through to completion.
- Coordinates with external centers of influence such as CPAs and estate attorneys to deliver a cohesive, family-office client experience.
- Assesses clients' financial situation by gathering information regarding investments, asset allocation, savings, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning, and evaluates risk tolerance.
- Collaborates with Financial Advisor on portfolio design and is part of the trading process to ensure clients’ portfolios align with their goals/objectives.
- Develops financial plans for clients using platforms such as eMoney and BlackDiamond.
- Prepares materials for annual review meetings with clients to discuss investments, strategies, and goals.
- Prepares client proposals, client books, and presentations.
- Ensures all industry, SEC, and firm compliance standards are met.
- Maintains industry qualifications and completes ongoing continuing education requirements.
- Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Professional Skills and Experience
- At least three years’ prior experience in financial services, financial planning, or asset management.
- CFP® certification strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of SEC rules and related procedures.
- Knowledge of various custodial, planning and financial services platforms.
- Bachelors’ degree required.
