Facilities Maintenance Technician in Carlstadt, New Jersey at General Trading Co.

Position Summary

General Trading Company is seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to help maintain our warehouse and office facilities. We're looking for a well-rounded "jack of all trades" who is mechanically inclined, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in keeping our facility safe, efficient, and well maintained.

This is not a janitorial or mechanic position.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
• Troubleshoot and complete general repairs including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, lighting, doors, locks, drywall, flooring, shelving, and other building components.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
• Safely operate hand and power tools.
• Work closely with the Safety Department to identify, correct, and help prevent unsafe conditions before they become larger issues.
• Report building deficiencies, safety concerns, and repairs requiring outside contractors.
• Maintain maintenance logs and complete work orders as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Assist with facility improvements, renovations, installations, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of commercial, industrial, or facilities maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience performing general building repairs.
• Working knowledge of plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine practical repair solutions.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely perform physical work throughout the workday.
