Director of Business Development, U.S. Law Schools

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Business Development, U.S. Law Schools based in the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced business development leader to drive strategic growth within the legal education sector by building long-term partnerships with law schools and higher education institutions across the United States. In this role, you will develop high-value institutional relationships, manage complex sales cycles, and collaborate with cross-functional experts to deliver impactful learning solutions. You will engage directly with senior academic leaders, influence long-term purchasing decisions, and lead initiatives that expand market presence. Ideal for a consultative sales professional, this position offers the chance to shape institutional success while contributing to the evolution of legal education in a collaborative, results-oriented environment.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to increase institutional revenue across U.S. law schools and higher education organizations.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate new business opportunities while maintaining and expanding existing institutional partnerships.
  • Build strong relationships with Deans, academic leadership teams, and senior university administrators to position tailored learning solutions.
  • Lead complex consultative sales processes from initial engagement through contract negotiation and successful execution of multi-year agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and leadership teams to create compelling value propositions for prospective clients.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline, deliver accurate forecasting, and consistently achieve or exceed revenue and retention objectives.
  • Guide account planning, territory strategy, and disciplined opportunity management to maximize business growth.
  • Travel as needed to strengthen client relationships, represent the organization at industry events, and support business development initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with experience in legal education; a JD or equivalent law degree is considered an advantage.
  • 10+ years of successful business development or enterprise sales experience within the higher education sector, particularly involving technology-enabled or education-as-a-service solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close complex, multi-year, high-value institutional agreements with senior academic stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of consultative sales methodologies, strategic account management, and long-cycle enterprise sales environments.
  • Excellent business, financial, and commercial acumen, with the ability to analyze complex contractual and financial information.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with executive-level decision makers.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration, adaptability, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Existing relationships within higher education institutions and public speaking experience are advantageous.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% as required.
  • Authorization to work full-time in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
