Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is seeking qualified individuals for our On-Call Auxiliary pool. The On-Call Auxiliary pool of employees provide temporary, short-term support to designated departments within the University to assist with workload requirements, temporary leave coverage and during peak periods.
The length of an auxiliary assignment can vary from one (1) day to up to four (4) months and can be part-time or full-time hours depending on the department requirements.
These types of roles are quite often used as an entry into other longer term roles within TRU.
For this particular posting, we are emphasizing the need for individuals with proven excellence in administrative and clerical support.
Education/Experience Required
- Two (2) year Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution, or equivalent,
- Two (2) years clerical/administrative experience, including intermediate to advanced experience with various computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, Outlook, Scheduler, and various other computer programs, including Artificial Intelligence
- One (1) year customer service experience
- Demonstrated accomplishments and a track record of high performance in previous administrative and/or clerical work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Word processing and data entry (alpha/numeric)
- Ability to operate related office equipment, ie. photocopiers, scanners
- Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with a diverse range of students, staff, external agencies and members of the general public
- Ability to exercise considerable independent action and handle confidential material
NOTE: Testing for MS Word, MS Excel, Alpha/Numeric Data Entry, and typing speed may be part of the selection process.
