Job Summary

Are you a Sterile Certified Pharmacy Technician looking for an exciting opportunity? We seek a dedicated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about patient care and medication safety. In this role, you will work closely with pharmacists on repackaging, compounding, and filling sterile and hazardous medications, directly impacting patient well-being.

The Lead Hazardous Technician will support production across both the hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding rooms, ensuring medications are prepared accurately, safely, and in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. The lead will also provide support to the technician team through training, scheduling, quality oversight, and day-to-day operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compound prescriptions with precision and care in both sterile and hazardous sterile environments.

  • Ensure timely and accurate medication distribution.

  • Organize and manage medication orders and records.

  • Monitor and replenish medication supplies.

  • Print batch record shells.

  • Complete Pestle log entries.

  • Complete Eagle & Pioneer submissions.

  • Follow proper hazardous medication handling, garbing, cleaning, and decontamination procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, and applicable pharmacy policies and procedures.

  • Handle shift scheduling for technicians and review timecard submissions.

  • Attend Leadership meetings.

  • Responsible for quarterly evaluations.

  • Provide training from baseline/SOP for new employees.

  • Support and maintain production workflow across the hazardous and non-hazardous sterile rooms as needed.

  • Assist different departments as needed to support overall pharmacy operations.

QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Active Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT-TX) license in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent, hands-on experience in a sterile compounding pharmacy technician role.

  • IV Certification with demonstrated experience in aseptic technique and sterile preparation.

  • Successful completion of 40 hours of accredited sterile compounding training, in compliance with applicable USP standards.

  • Familiarity with USP <797> and USP <800>.

  • Ability to safely follow hazardous medication handling, garbing, cleaning, and decontamination procedures.

  • Ability to perform lead-level responsibilities, including supporting team members, training new employees, and maintaining production and quality standards. Candidates without previous formal lead experience should demonstrate significant hands-on pharmacy technician experience and a strong ability to take ownership of day-to-day operations.

Preferred Requirement
  • Previous hands-on experience compounding hazardous medications in a sterile environment.

  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably within a high-volume or regulated compounding environment.

  • Previous lead or senior technician experience in a sterile or compounding pharmacy environment.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and/or 5S Certification, demonstrating a commitment to process improvement, efficiency, and quality standards.

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Schedule & Compensation
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

  • Location: Onsite — Houston 77086, TX

  • Compensation: Starting at $34/hour

  • Quarterly bonus eligible
