Job Description

Data Entry Clerk I
KeenLogic is seeking a Data Entry Clerk I to support the U.S. House of Representatives, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Office of Finance – Office of Payroll and Benefits in Washington, DC.
The candidate will provide data entry support for the tremendous amount of paperwork that will be received during the 120th Transition of Congress. The various paperwork to be processed includes New Hire, Salary Adjustments, and Terminations that will be entered into the Lawson Payroll system.
The candidate will also provide research and validation of paperwork along with researching and providing assistance to permanent staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing daily paperwork for entry into Lawson related to the regular and off-cycle payroll processing. The position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Position Details
  • Period of Performance: October 1, 2026 – February 28, 2027
  • Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday
  • Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM with a one-hour lunch
  • Location: Onsite at the O’Neill House Office Building in Washington, DC
  • Temporary Assignment: Supporting the 120th Transition of Congress
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience working in a payroll processing or office environment; payroll systems experience is preferred.
  • 2+ years of professional experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Data Entry accuracy and experience in a high volume, customer service environment.
  • Detail-oriented candidate with strong organization skills and a working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to multi-task while working in a complex, fast paced, confidential team environment, and recognize their responsibilities are critical.
  • The candidate should be self-motivated with a willingness to learn and be independent.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process paperwork received by the Office of Payroll and Benefits.
  • Enter and update employee information in the Lawson Payroll system.
  • Process name, address, and W-4 tax changes.
  • Set up health insurance and life insurance deductions for staff.
  • Process personnel actions, including new hires, terminations, and salary adjustments.
  • Process documentation associated with regular and off-cycle payroll.
  • Research and validate personnel and payroll documentation.
  • Work closely with Payroll and Benefits counseling staff to identify and resolve paperwork issues.
  • Research and assist with resolving payroll issues after payroll processing is completed.
  • Sort, organize, and file high volumes of documentation.
  • Support high-volume call activity and incoming documentation.
