Job Description

Title:Warehouse Manager

Summary

The Warehouse Manager must be experienced and highly organized, overseeing the day-to-day operations of our warehouse supporting the commercial restaurant equipment industry. This position is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, organizing, picking, packing, and shipping commercial kitchen equipment, parts, and supplies.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience handling large, heavy, high-value equipment. The Warehouse Manager will ensure accurate inventory, efficient warehouse operations, safe material handling, and timely fulfillment of customer and project requirements. This position requires the ability to work with several departments on scheduling and warehousing projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

    Manage daily warehouse activities, including receiving, unloading, storage, picking, packing, staging, and shipping.Organize commercial restaurant equipment and supplies to maximize warehouse space and operational efficiency.Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with vendors, customers, freight companies, installers, and project teams.Inspect incoming equipment for damage, shortages, and discrepancies and document issues appropriately.Prepare equipment for delivery, installation, or customer pickup.Ensure orders are pulled and staged accurately according to project schedules and customer requirements.Maintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse environment.

Inventory Management

    Maintain accurate inventory records for equipment, parts, accessories, and supplies.Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits.Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.Track serialized, high-value, and special-order equipment when applicable.Establish and maintain an organized labeling and location system.Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, damaged items, or slow-moving inventory to management.

Equipment Handling

    Safely handle and coordinate movement of commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, ranges, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, prep equipment, stainless-steel equipment, and other large or heavy items.Coordinate the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, carts, and other material-handling equipment.Ensure equipment is protected from damage during receiving, storage, staging, and loading.Coordinate with installation and delivery teams to ensure equipment is ready when required.

Shipping & Logistics

    Schedule and coordinate freight shipments and local deliveries.Verify quantities, dimensions, weights, and shipping documentation.Ensure equipment is properly packaged, secured, and labeled before shipment.Coordinate freight claims for damaged or missing equipment.Work closely with purchasing, sales, project management, and installation teams to meet delivery deadlines.

Safety & Compliance

    Maintain a safe warehouse environment and enforce company safety procedures.Ensure proper use of forklifts and other warehouse equipment.Maintain clear aisles, appropriate storage practices, and proper material-handling procedures.Conduct or participate in regular warehouse safety inspections.Report accidents, injuries, property damage, and safety concerns promptly.

Required Qualifications

    Warehouse or distribution management experience; experience in commercial restaurant equipment or a related industry is preferred.Previous supervisory or management experience.Strong understanding of inventory control and warehouse operations.Experience handling large, heavy, or high-value equipment.Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to prioritize multiple orders and deadlines.Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or warehouse management software.Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, customers, freight carriers, and internal departments.Ability to lift and move heavy equipment safely, with assistance when required.Valid driver's license may be required depending on delivery responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with commercial foodservice equipment or restaurant construction projects.Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and major equipment categories.Experience coordinating LTL freight and local deliveries.Experience using ERP, WMS, inventory, or order-management systems.OSHA/forklift safety training.Experience managing warehouse layouts and inventory-location systems.

Supervisory Responsibility

Manage the warehouse department team.Responsibility for performance management, coaching, and team development. Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate warehouse employees.Assign daily tasks and establish priorities based on shipping and project requirements.Promote accountability, productivity, teamwork, and excellent work habits.Train employees on proper equipment handling, warehouse procedures, and safety practices.Address performance issues and maintain appropriate staffing levels.

Physical Demands

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. Hand dexterity and eye and hand coordination is critical.Use of one or both arms and wrists to lift parts, fixtures, and tools on a frequent basis.Sitting. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, but at least 50% of the time. Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.Requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving materials.Lifting. May be required to safely lift and move equipment weighing 50+ pounds, with team assistance or mechanical equipment used for heavier items.May involve working around forklifts, pallet jacks, loading docks, trucks, and other warehouse equipment.Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately or quickly.Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of structures. Must be able to read a computer screen for long periods of time.Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one workstation to another.
