Senior Medical Staff Services Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Medical Staff Services Specialist based in the United States.

This role serves as a key operational partner within the Medical Staff Office, supporting the organization and continuity of medical staff activities. You will work closely with medical staff leaders, committees, departments, and executive stakeholders to ensure credentialing and related processes run smoothly. The position combines healthcare administration, provider credentialing, regulatory awareness, and strong relationship management. You will coordinate closely with system-level credentialing teams on initial appointments and provider reappointments. Success requires excellent organization, independent judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and administrative teams. Accountabilities
  • Serve as a primary Medical Staff Office contact for local Chief Medical Officers, medical staff leadership, committees, sections, and hospital departments.
  • Provide resources and administrative support that ensure continuity and effective execution of local medical staff organization activities.
  • Coordinate and manage local Medical Staff Office responsibilities, ensuring processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Work closely with system credentialing teams to support initial provider appointments and reappointments.
  • Coordinate medical staff activities and provide ongoing administrative support to medical staff leaders and members.
  • Participate in relevant hospital committees and contribute to initiatives related to medical staff governance and operations.
  • Maintain organized and accurate medical staff documentation, records, and processes.
  • Apply knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards to support compliant Medical Staff Services operations.
  • Build productive working relationships with physicians, medical staff leaders, peers, and cross-functional healthcare teams.
  • Identify operational needs and contribute to continuous improvements within Medical Staff Services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a healthcare environment, including a minimum of 1 year performing medical staff services and/or provider credentialing functions.
  • Certified or eligible for certification as a Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager (CPMSM) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) within the applicable certification eligibility timeframe.
  • Demonstrated understanding of medical staff operations, credentialing processes, provider appointments, and reappointments.
  • Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, HIPAA, and other applicable healthcare regulatory standards is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with physicians, medical staff leaders, peers, and hospital departments.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment while maintaining accountability for individual responsibilities.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive healthcare and provider information.
