Landscape Irrigation & Lighting Technician in Durham, North Carolina at Premier Lawn & Pest Management Inc

We are looking for a skilled Irrigation & Lighting Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual capable of installing, diagnosing, and repairing irrigation systems and low-voltage lighting for both commercial and residential clients. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the functionality and beauty of our landscapes by ensuring all systems operate efficiently.

Work day is 7:00AM to variable end time Monday through Friday; Saturday work is rare and we never work on Sundays or holidays. Work week averages 40 hours with paid overtime.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems to maximize performance.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage landscape lighting.
• Manage seasonal system transitions, including spring start-ups and winterization.
• Perform routine equipment inspections to proactively address issues and suggest system improvements.
• Skillfully use hand and power tools to complete repair and installation projects.
• Operate machinery, such as excavators, for trenching and laying irrigation lines.
• Partner with landscape crews to ensure irrigation support for optimal plant health.
• Propose technical upgrades based on environmental factors and observed system efficiency.
• Create project proposals and cost estimates for residential and commercial properties based on accurate field measurements and analyses
• Serve as a primary contact for clients to foster relationships and close sales
• Collaborate with support staff to advance project sales through client communication and project development, review, and presentation
• Document all work activities, including detailed maintenance logs and installation records.
• Organize and restock necessary supplies within the company vehicle.

REQUIREMENTS:

• MUST have a valid driver’s license with no major MVR infractions
• Relevant degree and/or industry certification is ideal
• 3+ years of proven experience in irrigation and lighting installation and maintenance
• Demonstrated expertise in the installation and repair of various lighting and irrigation systems, including advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in landscaping maintenance, lawn care procedures, and horticultural principles to better understand plant water requirements.
• Practical experience utilizing excavation machinery alongside standard hand and power tools for diverse landscape projects.
• Ability to perform physical work in outdoor conditions, both hot and cold
• Physical capability to lift greater than 50 lbs.
• Bilingual (Spanish and English) a plus
