Job Description
Position Description: Overview
The Pharmacy Technician Instructor (Part-Time Contractor) provides pharmacy technician workforce training courses for adult learners, including curriculum development, instruction, and student support. Instruction may be provided in person or in a hybrid format. The instructor should deliver engaging, industry-specific instruction designed to prepare students to successfully complete the National Pharmacy Technician certification exam and prepare for employment in this field.
The instructor will be responsible for curriculum development and enhancement, classroom instruction, student support, and coordination of laboratory, practicum, or clinical experiences as applicable. Instruction must align with Restore Education program requirements, applicable state and federal regulations, and industry standards.
Classification: Independent Contractor (1099), Part-Time
Availability: Daytime and/or evening classes based on student enrollment and program needs. Class assignments will be determined by mutual agreement.
Location: Restore Education Main Campus; or other location as needed.

Scope of Services:
- Deliver high-quality instruction in Pharmacy Technician curriculum, including both theory and hands-on skills instruction.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods and techniques to engage adult learners and support student achievement.
- Develop, adapt, and deliver curriculum aligned with industry standards and certification exam requirements.
- Prepare students for successful completion of the NHA ExCPT exam and other applicable credentialing requirements
- Create lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and related course resources.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback, tutoring, and academic support as needed.
- Promote student retention and successful course completion through relationship building, regular communication, and goal setting.
- Maintain accurate student attendance, performance records, and other required program documentation.
- Coordinate and oversee student registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, externship, practicum, and/or clinical experiences as applicable, including establishing and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, employers, and training sites.
- Participate in curriculum review and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform services in accordance with Restore Education policies applicable to contractors, program requirements, and all applicable federal and state laws.
- Perform other related services as mutually agreed upon to support student success and program objectives.
Education and Experience
- Must be nationally certified as a Pharmacy Technician and currently registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician required.
- Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree in a health science related field preferred.
- Prior experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising adult or adolescent learners required.
- Experience providing instruction in classroom or adult learning environments required.
- Experience in multiple pharmacy settings, including retail and/or hospital pharmacy, preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of Pharmacy Technician Certification regulations, exam content, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations, terminology, procedures, medications, and applicable regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prepare students for national certification examination success and workforce readiness.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to engage and motivate diverse adult learners.
- Ability to teach effectively using a variety of instructional methods and technologies.
- Proficiency with computer applications, learning management systems, video conferencing platforms, and standard office software.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, employers, and community partners.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student information and program data.
- Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Schedule
- Instruction may be provided during daytime and/or evening hours based on course offerings, student enrollment, and program needs. The anticipated schedule and number of instructional hours will be determined for each class assignment by mutual agreement.
Compensation
- Starting at $25.00 per hour, with final compensation based on education, credentials, relevant industry experience, and instructional responsibilities.
Independent Contractor Status
This position is offered as an independent contractor (1099) engagement and is not an employment position. Nothing in this job posting shall be construed as creating an employment relationship. The selected contractor will be responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, licensing, business expenses, and regulatory requirements associated with independent contractor status. Independent contractors are not eligible for employee benefits or other employment related benefits offered by Restore Education.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Must possess and maintain current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Must maintain national Pharmacy Technician certification in good standing.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record if travel is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Work requires visual acuity, speech, hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers, instructional equipment, and standard office equipment. Duties include sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, and occasional lifting of instructional materials and supplies as needed to perform the contracted services. Work may be performed in classroom, office, laboratory, virtual, and community settings.
