Job Summary:
The Facilities and Maintenance Technician works with the Facilities and Maintenance Manager with maintenance and repairing of all equipment and along with overseeing the building and grounds of MWI. Duties will include following a maintenance schedule, recording completion date, and communicating daily to notify supervisor of completed tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all maintenance SOP’s are being complied to.
- Ensures that all PM’s are completed according to the production schedule.
- Ensures that all work being completed is done in a professional manner.
- Complete the “Start of Day/End of Day” checklist and turn in documentation to your supervisor at the end of each week.
- Ensure all production lines and equipment are running correctly and repaired safely and as quickly as possible if there is an issue.
- Help with trash removal as needed.
- Participate in goal setting and performance evaluation with supervisor.
- Participate in the year end maintenance/production schedules (PM’s, Projects, Inventories, Audits)
- Ensure compliance of GMPs and company policy and procedures.
- Act as backup for in other areas when needed and as directed by Facilities Maintenance Manager and/or Plant Manager.
Maintain and service all manufacturing equipment:
- Responsible for maintaining and repairing all manufacturing equipment, inclusive of machinery and other tools needed in order to perform job duties across the organization.
- Responsible for maintaining maintenance records and documenting service date.
- Responsible for replacing HVAC and air compressor air filters monthly or as needed and minor HVAC and air compressor upkeep, including cleaning coils. Escalate higher level maintenance to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager as needed.
- Communicate with supervisor any open issues relating to replacement parts.
- Communicate with supervisor in the event an outside service technician is required and must be approved first by Facilities and Maintenance Manager or the Plant Manager.
- Perform production equipment setups and calibrations as needed.
- Clean up area after servicing/repairing of equipment (i.e. spills, oils, greases, tools) as needed.
- Check entire water system for leaks in building 1.
Maintains Interior and Exterior areas of the facility:
- Responsible for maintaining maintenance records and documenting service date.
- Communicate with supervisor concerning structural issues and repairs.
- Maintains and monitors environmental control settings.
- Repair and paint any damaged interior walls when needed.
- Inspect and maintain all sidewalks and entrances when snow or ice is present and apply sidewalk salt.
- Check property grounds and clean trash/debris as needed.
- Check dumpsters, if full after pick up day, communicate this with your supervisor.
- Check pallet racks for any damage.
- Check all drains to be free off debris or clogs.
- Check emergency exits signs and lighting to be working properly.
Maintain company fork trucks, pallet jacks, and floor scrubbing equipment:
- Responsible for completing maintenance records and turn in the records to your supervisor.
- Inspect fork trucks for damage or missing parts weekly.
- Verify operation of the equipment (fork trucks, pallet jacks, floor scrubber) weekly.
- Communicate with your supervisor any issues relating to replacement parts or major failure issues.
- Clean and maintain work area, keeping it free of spills and debris.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Working knowledge of warehouse policies and procedures, with general knowledge of electrical testing equipment.
- Self-motivated, collaborative problem solver who can work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work in a team or independently as needed with minimal supervision.
- General knowledge in use of electrical testing equipment.
- General knowledge of plumbing systems with the ability to troubleshoot common issues.
- Common knowledge of hand tools and power tools commonly used in a manufacturing setting.
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two to four (2-4) years of mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and equipment maintenance experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment or other relevant experience.
- Automotive, forklift, or heavy machinery maintenance experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to bend, stoop, walk, stand, push and pull various items.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed inside the plant, though some tasks may require work outside the facility.
- Exposure to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles.
- May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions.
- Compliance with GMP, ISO, and general safety requirements in wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as a respirator, hair net, beard net, arm guards, gloves hearing protection, and eye protection, is required in specified areas.
