UBMD Internal Medicine (UBMDIM) is an academic medical practice affiliated with the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. The practice includes 135 primary and specialty care physicians and 187 staff members across 16 hospital and outpatient clinic locations, making Internal Medicine the largest practice plan within the UBMD Physicians’ Group. UBMDIM’s physicians are clinicians, educators, and researchers who provide patient care, train future healthcare professionals, and advance treatments for complex diseases. The organization is committed to improving healthcare in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area through clinical excellence, education, and innovation.
Role Description:
The Human Resources Generalist is a full-time, on-site role based in Amherst. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations, including administering HR policies, maintaining employee records, and assisting with recruitment and onboarding processes. The Human Resources Generalist will handle benefits-related inquiries, support benefits administration, and help ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations. The position also involves providing guidance to managers and team members on HR-related matters, assisting with performance management processes, and contributing to employee engagement and retention initiatives.
Qualifications
1. Experience in Human Resources (HR) and HR Management, with the ability to support daily HR operations and partner with leadership.
2. Knowledge of HR Policies and employment laws, with skill in applying and communicating policies consistently.
3. Expertise in Employee Benefits and Benefits Administration, including handling employee inquiries and supporting enrollment and changes.
4. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across clinical and administrative teams.
5. Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools.
6. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
7. 2 -5 years experence in Human Resources, perferably in a generalist role.
8. PHR/SHRM CP certification is prefered
9. Experence working in UKG Ready is prefered
10. Prior experience in healthcare or academic medical settings is preferred.
