Job Description: Barista, with an opportunity to progress to barista trainer (30+ Hours / Week)

We are looking for a passionate, reliable and skilled Barista to join our team.

This role will initially be employed as a Barista for a 3-month probation period. During this time, we will assess your coffee-making skills, consistency, work ethic, leadership potential and, importantly, your attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.

For the right person, there is an opportunity at the successful completion of the probation period to progress into a Barista Trainer position, with an increased hourly wage to reflect the additional responsibilities of the role.

As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting and serving delicious coffee-based beverages, as well as providing exceptional service to our valued customers. Your positive energy, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently will play a key role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all who walk through our doors.

Most importantly, we are looking for the right attitude. Technical skills can continue to be developed, but we want someone who is willing to learn, takes pride in their work, supports their teammates and genuinely wants to help maintain and grow our renowned locally focused culture.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, following our established recipes and quality standards.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring personalized preferences are met.
- Operate coffee brewing equipment and other machinery with precision and care.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including equipment, countertops, and seating areas.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing personalised recommendations and exceptional customer service.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist with opening and closing duties: setting up, cleaning/maintaining equipment, reporting stock levels to management, etc.

Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a barista preferred, but we are also willing to train candidates with a genuine passion for coffee and customer service.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee brewing methods, coffee characteristics, and latte art will be a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and passion for delivering exceptional quality beverages.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to self-manage/motivate, work well within a team, and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Available to work across all Northern Rivers stores, including Bangalow, Byron Bay & Ballina.
