Number of Positions: 2, DSS would like to continue with employing 2 FWS as our student caseload, technology options and requests increase.
Hours per Week: 20 hours/ 2 students
Weekends Required: Occasionally
Evenings Required: Yes

Percentage of time that could be remote (0-100%): 100% of the hours will be performed remotely, work includes Alternate Format & Assistive Technology Support:
Coordinate Alternate Format Accommodations: Communicate directly with students with
disabilities to facilitate and support their approved accommodations for course materials
in alternate formats.
Publisher Liaison & Resource Procurement: Contact publishers and utilize specialized
external resources to secure textbook and media files in alternate formats in a timely
manner.
Assistive Technology Consultation: Communicate with students with disabilities to
support their on-boarding, utilization, and ongoing accommodation needs regarding
assistive technology.

Method to assess remote work: Completion of tasks shared via Google Drive with definitive
deliverables and regular communication with supervisor

Job Description

  • The Disability Support Services (DSS) office seeks a dedicated and motivated graduate student to support initiatives aimed at fostering an accessible, inclusive, and supportive campus environment, with a specialized focus on administrative operations supporting students with disabilities and managing accommodation frameworks.
  • This role provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, manage critical administrative functions, engage with diverse stakeholders, and enhance personal and professional development in higher education administration and accessibility services.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Alternate Format & Assistive Technology Support:
    • Coordinate Alternate Format Accommodations: Communicate directly with students with disabilities to facilitate and support their approved accommodations for course materials in alternate formats.
    • Publisher Liaison & Resource Procurement: Contact publishers and utilize specialized external resources to secure textbook and media files in alternate formats in a timely manner.
    • Assistive Technology Consultation: Communicate with students with disabilities to support their on-boarding, utilization, and ongoing accommodation needs regarding assistive technology.
  • Supervision and Mentorship:
    • The graduate assistant will report to the Director of Disability Support Services and will receive regular mentorship to support their professional growth in higher education administration.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current graduate student at Antioch University and eligible for work-study funding.
  • Respect the confidential nature of working with students with disabilities.
  • Strong commitment to advocating for and supporting students with disabilities and ensuring campus accessibility.
  • Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail and organizational workflows.
  • Willingness to learn and unlearn.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Preferred:
    • Prior experience working with, or a strong preference for supporting, individuals with disabilities or navigating accessibility accommodation frameworks.
    • Experience or coursework related to administrative compliance (such as ADA/Section 504 regulations), database management, or communications.
    • Experience in program coordination, academic affairs, or student affairs tailored to inclusive learning environments and diverse student populations.
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and website management tools.
    • Strong research and analytical skills.
