Position Summary:

The Clinical Training Specialist (CTS) is responsible for driving utilization of AVITA products through education and by serving in an advisory role to our clinical customers regarding AVITA formularies, protocols, policies and procedures. This will include implementation of internal and external educational programs designed to advance the medical, clinical, scientific, and economic understanding of therapies or indications aligned with the company’s interests. This role will work closely with Sales, Marketing and Medical Affairs to identify and assist in development of clinical educational resources to support key AVITA accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the customer’s clinical expert related to the RECELL System including indications, device set-up and skin processing, dressing changes, and related aftercare through hands on training sessions, surgical case support and dressing change support.
  • Clinically support and train on future devices and products as developed.
  • Professionally represent AVITA in the field ensuring high levels of visibility and customer satisfaction.
  • Supports cases outside of assigned territories, on an as needed basis.
  • Be an integral part of the AVITA team, working closely with Sales, Marketing and Medical Affairs to identify, report, and advise on customer needs, product performance and potential sales opportunities.
  • Execute clinical education programs for priority/target accounts that promote knowledge, increase product utilization and increase account revenue.
  • Acts as a liaison with key physicians and nurses regarding clinical needs, patient management direction, and effectiveness of products.
  • Act as a field resource to the Marketing Department during product development, new product introductions, and product promotions.
  • Actively participates in national, regional, and local conferences to increase company visibility and credibility.
  • Meets quarterly with CTS Director to review clinical performance, target account progress, and competitive landscape.
  • Operates within defined budgets and strictly in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Performs administrative duties as defined by management, e.g., SalesForce, Insperity, Concur.
Requirements:
  • BS, NP, PA, RN/BSN, RN/MSN or other relevant degrees or certifications, with active license and in good standing.
  • Must be able to be vendor credentialed for all hospital burn & trauma centers, including Parallon and HealthTrust Verified Professionals.
  • Acute burn care experience required with hands on bedside clinical burn unit experience and/or medical device industry experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects effectively from start to completion.
  • First-hand experience in working with customers, opinion leaders, operating room staff as well as broad exposure to the healthcare industry a plus.
  • Ability to travel extensively (approx. 60-70%) is needed within the assigned territory, including weekly overnights via air and/or vehicle travel.
  • Ability to cover accounts outside of assigned territory on an as needed basis to assure seamless customer support.
  • Previous experience with education and training in a clinical setting.
  • A clinical skill set that includes drive and self-motivation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to plan, organize, close and deliver, and the capacity to work autonomously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, interfacing with multiple constituencies including burn surgeons, operating room staff, burn/trauma/ICU nurses and sales staff to effectively build relationships with external customers and internal team members.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a competitive drive, and a work ethic conducive to success.
  • Initiative and follow-through on tasks, collaborative across cross functional teams, and ability to extend past the expressed Clinical Training Specialist requirements, as needed.

  • Prioritizes time towards Priority/Target accounts as identified by RTS & Sales Director - High Opportunity, High Volume or High Profile.
  • Plan and implement growth strategies within focused accounts in partnership with Sales Management.
  • Personable, self-motivated professional who contributes high energy and focus.
  • Result outcome orientated through clinical processes which move customers to act expeditiously.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, AVITA policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
  • Performs all job duties in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Plan and carry out tasks without detailed instructions and prepare for problems or opportunities in advance by taking ownership of situations and being proactive in approach.
  • Maintains high level of clinical, market, and competitive product knowledge.

Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The individual is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and repetitive motion. The individual is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The individual may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employees must demonstrate competency to observe universal precautions for infection control from blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases as required to protect from human blood and certain human body fluids. PPE would include but not limited to gloves, gowns/ aprons, masks/respirators. Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) designated positions will be subject to the federal respiratory protection standard as per 29 CFR 1910.134 requiring medical clearance and a passing Fit test to don a respirator. Additionally, as per the same regulation, facial hair affecting the seal on a tight-fitting negative pressure respirator is not allowable for Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) designated positions.
