Job Description

Senior Analyst, Strategic Analytics

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Analyst, Strategic Analytics based in Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of product, finance, and data strategy, turning complex business and product usage data into clear, actionable insights that shape high-impact decisions. You will join a Strategic Analytics team focused on profitability, where your work directly influences pricing, cost structure, and unit economics across hardware and software products. The role involves deep analytical problem-solving on ambiguous, executive-level questions, requiring strong structuring skills and a sharp commercial mindset. You will work closely with senior leadership, including product and technology executives, to evaluate margin performance and identify profitability levers. Operating in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment, this position is best suited for someone who thrives in complexity and enjoys building clarity from messy data. Your insights will directly inform strategic decisions that impact growth, efficiency, and long-term business sustainability.

Accountabilities
  • Own end-to-end analysis of cost of goods sold (COGS), gross margin, and unit economics across hardware and software product lines, ensuring accuracy and business relevance
  • Develop financial and scenario models to evaluate cost drivers, identify optimization opportunities, and support strategic decision-making for profitability improvement
  • Translate ambiguous executive questions into structured analytical frameworks, delivering clear, data-backed recommendations to senior leadership
  • Partner with data engineering, product, and finance teams to validate data sources, define metrics, and build reliable datasets for analysis
  • Build and maintain scalable analytical frameworks and documentation to improve consistency and reusability of profitability insights
  • Contribute to analytical best practices and improve data quality, tooling, and operational rigor within the Strategic Analytics function
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in analytics, strategic finance, FP&A, consulting, or a similar quantitative role with strong exposure to financial modeling
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to independently query and manipulate large, complex datasets
  • Deep understanding of unit economics, including gross margin, contribution margin, cost structures, and profitability drivers
  • Proven ability to break down ambiguous business problems into structured analytical approaches and actionable insights
  • Strong executive communication skills with experience presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership or C-suite stakeholders
  • High level of autonomy, intellectual curiosity, and comfort operating in fast-changing, loosely defined environments
  • Experience working with complex or imperfect data environments and building reliable analytical foundations from scratch
Benefits
  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and geographic location
  • Equity and performance-based compensation opportunities
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plan including employer contributions (eligibility-based)
  • Paid time off, sick leave, and flexible remote work arrangements
  • Exposure to high-impact strategic decisions influencing company-wide profitability and growth
  • Opportunity to work closely with executive leadership in a high-visibility analytics function
