Commercial Insurance Account Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Commercial Insurance Account Manager based in the United States.

As a Commercial Insurance Account Manager, you will support a portfolio of larger and more complex commercial clients while delivering high-quality, relationship-driven service.
You will work closely with Producers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to understand client needs and develop effective insurance solutions.
The role combines account management, coverage analysis, market coordination, and client advisory responsibilities.
You will use your insurance expertise to identify coverage needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and uncover opportunities for additional lines of coverage.
As an experienced member of the team, you will also serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues while helping maintain strong team performance.
You will stay current on coverage requirements, underwriting practices, carrier guidelines, and relevant legislative developments.

Accountabilities
  • Manage and support larger and/or more complex commercial insurance accounts, providing responsive and high-quality service throughout the client relationship.

  • Partner closely with Producers and other account stakeholders to understand client objectives, assess insurance needs, and support account strategy.

  • Analyze client coverage and independently make recommendations regarding coverage needs, potential gaps, and appropriate insurance solutions.

  • Identify opportunities to recommend additional lines of coverage when relevant to clients' evolving business and risk profiles.

  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, carrier representatives, and other market contacts.

  • Develop relationships with insurance carriers and coordinate market activity as requested by Producers or Marketing Account Executives.

  • Stay informed about insurance coverages, carrier guidelines, underwriting practices, and relevant legislative or regulatory developments.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues and contribute to a collaborative environment through guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

  • Provide direction, constructive feedback, development support, and training to colleagues when appropriate.

  • Help motivate team members and contribute to strong productivity, service quality, and team morale.

  • Address client and company issues with professionalism, tact, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented approach.

  • Support account-related activities and client initiatives, including Requests for Proposal when required.

  • Use technology and standard business applications to manage account information, communications, documentation, and day-to-day responsibilities.

  • Travel occasionally, including overnight travel when business needs require it.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional training.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience within the insurance industry.

  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license.

  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance and the ability to analyze coverage and identify appropriate solutions.

  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills, with a strong service orientation and ability to establish lasting professional relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully and effectively when resolving client, carrier, or internal issues.

  • Leadership capabilities, including the ability to provide direction, constructive feedback, coaching, development, and training to colleagues.

  • Ability to motivate others and contribute positively to productivity and team morale.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage complex client needs.

  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight travel.

  • An advanced degree is a plus.

  • Professional insurance certifications or designations are advantageous.

  • Experience working on Requests for Proposal (RFPs) is preferred but not required.
