Content Strategist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Content Strategist based in Canada.

This role focuses on growing organic reach through high-quality, data-driven content across search and emerging discovery channels.
You will work at the intersection of content strategy, SEO, GEO, analytics, content creation, and distribution.
The position is dedicated to the mortgage business, translating expert insights and market developments into clear, useful consumer content.
You will use search trends, audience insights, performance data, and AI search analytics to identify growth opportunities and shape content priorities.
Your work will span websites, newsletters, email campaigns, social media, forums, and short-form video.
You will collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, partnerships, PR, and subject-matter experts in a fast-moving, test-and-learn environment.
The goal is to increase qualified organic traffic while helping Canadians make more informed financial decisions.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute data-driven content, SEO, and GEO strategies using analytics, search trends, audience insights, and AI search data to identify opportunities and prioritize content initiatives.
  • Monitor organic traffic, rankings, engagement, conversions, and AI-search visibility to understand performance and recommend content to create, update, optimize, or retire.
  • Identify content gaps, high-value topics, emerging search trends, and opportunities across traditional and generative search, recommending the most effective format and distribution channel for each.
  • Build and maintain a mortgage content calendar and prioritized backlog, balancing evergreen content with timely opportunities driven by market developments and consumer needs.
  • Write, produce, refresh, and optimize content across blog posts, landing pages, mortgage rate pages, newsletters, eblasts, social content, forum posts, and short-form video scripts.
  • Translate mortgage insights, expert commentary, and market developments into accurate, accessible, consumer-friendly content while developing strong knowledge of the Canadian mortgage market.
  • Monitor developments affecting Canadian borrowers, including interest rates, bond yields, inflation, housing data, lender activity, and broader economic trends, working with subject-matter experts to validate content.
  • Refresh and rewrite high-value content, including French-language landing pages in collaboration with translators, using performance data and SEO/GEO best practices to guide improvements.
  • Use AI tools for research, ideation, analysis, and content generation while maintaining originality, accuracy, editorial quality, and brand voice.
  • Own weekly newsletters, mortgage eblasts, and promotional emails, selecting and positioning content based on audience insights and performance data.
  • Support organic distribution across Google Search, AI search, Reddit and other forums, social media, email, and short-form video, while creating timely content for platforms such as Meta, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Edit, format, and publish website content through WordPress, ensuring accuracy, optimization, and alignment with editorial standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on CMS functionality, website updates, content prioritization, and improvements to the overall content experience.
  • Stay current with changes in search, AI discovery, GEO practices, emerging search behaviors, and new content distribution opportunities.
Requirements:
  • 4–6 years of experience in content strategy, content marketing, SEO, digital publishing, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create original, engaging, informative, and genuinely useful consumer content.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, GEO, and AI-powered search, with an interest in how large language models are changing content discovery.
  • Experience using analytics and SEO tools to evaluate content and channel performance and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEO platforms, and/or AI Search Analytics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of how content, SEO, GEO, email, and distribution work together to generate measurable business results.
  • Curious, analytical, and test-and-learn mindset, with a willingness to experiment with new formats, AI tools, and emerging discovery channels.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to quickly develop expertise in complex subject areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex information from subject-matter experts into clear, compelling, consumer-friendly content.
  • Strong interest in the Canadian mortgage and broader personal finance space, with the curiosity and drive to develop deeper mortgage expertise.
  • Experience with WordPress or another CMS.
  • Experience building and managing email newsletters or eblasts, including content selection, production, and publishing.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset.
Benefits:
  • Estimated salary range of $75,000–$100,000.
  • Remote-first environment with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada, with occasional in-person team gatherings.
  • Flexible hours and autonomy to manage your schedule.
  • Individual training allowance to support professional development and career growth.
  • Regular remote and in-person team social events.
