Job Description
Job Summary: Fire Alarm Service Technician responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in compliance with NFPA 72 and NFPA 70 standards. Conducts system diagnostics, identifies repair needs, and communicates findings to customers and service management. Utilizes tools such as multimeters, tone generators, and battery testers to support service and inspection activities. Maintains accurate service documentation, work orders, and time records while ensuring systems remain code compliant. Supports sales efforts during project estimation and system demonstrations and is comfortable working at heights using man lifts.
Responsibilities:
- Perform service and inspections based on NFPA 72 & NFPA 70 requirements.
- Perform troubleshooting and describe them to owners and service managers for repairs.
- Monitor and assure progress and completion of all assigned tasks.
- Utilizing following tools: Multimeter, Tone Generator, Battery Tester.
- Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building codes.
- Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
- May perform inspections from man lifts at elevations of 30 to 40 feet from ground level, as necessary.
- Ability to obtain all required certifications (NICET Fire I and NICET Fire II).
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- 4+ years of Fire Alarm System service and inspections work experience required.
- Working knowledge of the operational characteristics of Fire Alarm Systems.
- Basic knowledge of following tools: Multimeter, Tone Generator, Battery Tester.
- Basic mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- An understanding of computer operating systems, including the MS Office Suite of products.
- Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- 6+ years of Fire System service and inspections work experience required.
- Advance knowledge of the operational characteristics of Fire Alarm Systems.
- Advance mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NFPA 70, IBC.
- An understanding of NFPA and other related fire and life safety codes.
- Certifications NICET Fire II
- Blue Card

The use of power tools will berequiredto effectively perform this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsand maybe requiredto work at heights over 1.8m(6 feet)

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work on job sites, may berequiredto travel to and from job site locations, may work in a typical office environment, and is occasionally exposed to construction equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Confined space entry may berequired. High work may berequired.
Additional Information:
- Compensation: $38 - $46 per hour
- Working Hours: This position generally works Monday- Friday, overtime and on call when necessary
