Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to join our growing flexible packaging distribution business. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing daily accounting transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced distribution environment, possesses strong analytical skills, and has experience working with inventory, customer invoicing, vendor payments, and general ledger accounting.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable
  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices for proper approval.
  • Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers for CEO to conduct.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Generate customer invoices and statements.
  • Post customer payments and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • General Bookkeeping
  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain the general ledger.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closings.
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Inventory and Distribution

  • Assist with inventory reconciliations and inventory-related transactions.
  • Monitor inventory valuation and cost discrepancies.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Work closely with warehouse, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Reporting and Compliance
  • Prepare financial reports and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with sales tax reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Administrative Support
  • Maintain accounting files and records.
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow monitoring.
  • Provide support for special projects and process improvements.

  • QualificationsRequired
    High school diploma or GED 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.Experience with accounting software such as Acumatica, QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems.Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    Preferred
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, packaging, or inventory-driven industries.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Experience with California sales tax requirements.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

  • Work Environment/Physical Requirements

    This position operates primarily in a professional office work environment within the State of California. The role routinely involves the use of standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, telephones, and other accounting-related software systems.

    The work environment is typically sedentary in nature; however, employees may occasionally be required to move about the office, attend meetings, or interact with colleagues and external stakeholders. The position may involve extended periods of sitting, focusing on detailed financial data, and working at a computer screen for prolonged durations.

    Key physical requirements include:

    • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing accounting tasks
    • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents, spreadsheets, and reports
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and present financial information
    • Occasional lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, boxes of documents)

    The role may require maintaining concentration and attention to detail for extended periods, especially during peak cycles such as month-end, quarter-end, or year-end close.
