Job purpose
The Production Utility Worker supports daily manufacturing operations by performing a variety of line tasks, including product handling, inspection, packing, material movement, cleaning, and sanitation. This role provides essential support across multiple production lines and must be adaptable, safety-focused, and able to learn tasks quickly.
Wage: $16.00 per hour + $2.50 shift differential per hour
Duties and responsibilities
Core Production Tasks
- Stand at assigned production lines and visually inspect products for quality and defects.
- Load products onto conveyors, hoppers, melters, or other production equipment.
- Hand-pack finished products into trays, cartons, or boxes as required.
- Stack finished cases onto pallets following simple pallet patterns.
- Assist with material movement and replenishing line supplies.
- Rotate to different lines or workstations as needed, including covering lunches and breaks.
Cleaning & Sanitation (Required for ALL employees)
- Keep work area clean, organized, and free of debris to prevent slip, trip, or fall hazards.
- Perform routine cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping surfaces.
- Assist with scheduled sanitation activities, which may require:
- Use of mild chemicals and water
- Extended cleaning tasks up to a full 8-hour shift
- Training for Level 3 and Level 4 sanitation processes
- Follow all sanitation, GMP, and Food Safety protocols without exception.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
- Remain alert and aware of surroundings while working on or near machinery.
- Comply with all company policies, GMPs, and Food Safety requirements.
- Treat all co-workers with respect and maintain a positive team environment.
Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions from Line Leads, Supervisors, and Shift Managers.
- Strong attention to detail (e.g., labeling, lot codes, product quality checks).
- Good personal hygiene and adherence to GMPs.
- Ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team.
Working conditions
- Must be able to work any shift as scheduled (days, swings, nights).
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Standing/walking for long periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Must adhere to all safety programs and procedures.
Physical requirements
- Wear non-slip, safety-compliant footwear.
- Wear all required PPE including hairnet, beard net (if applicable), gloves, etc.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers and leaders.
