Job Title: BHT Operations Manager

Department: Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Services

Reports To: Britney Gay / Executive Director – Southern California East Region

Direct Reports: BHT Leads (Southern California East Region)

FLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried

Salary: $70,000-$75,000

Location: Southern California East Region – Montclair

Position Summary.

The BHT Operations Manager is responsible for the oversight and performance of all Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) across the region. This role ensures consistent compliance, training, and onboarding standards, manages day-to-day operational needs of the BHT department, including departmental scheduling, and provides direct leadership to BHT Leads, who report up through this position. The BHT Operations Manager plays a critical role in maintaining quality of care, staff development, and operational continuity across all BHT teams.

Key Responsibilities.

Staff and Leadership

  • Directly oversee all BHTs across the region, ensuring consistent performance, coverage, and quality of service.
  • Manage and support BHT Leads, providing direction, coaching, and accountability for their teams.
  • Serve as an escalation point for staffing issues, scheduling conflicts, and day-to-day operational concerns across BHT teams.
  • Address after-hours and urgent BHT needs, including scheduling changes, staff questions, and time-sensitive issues.

Training & Onboarding

  • Own the onboarding process for new BHT staff, ensuring a consistent and thorough orientation to policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Develop, deliver, and continuously improve training programs to support BHT skill development and career growth.
  • Identify training gaps across the region and implement solutions to address them.
  • Support the growth and retention of BHT staff through mentorship and structured development pathways.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all BHTs and BHT Leads maintain compliance with regulatory, licensing, and organizational standards.
  • Monitor documentation, certifications, and required training to ensure staff remain in good standing.
  • Partner with the Compliance team to address audit findings, corrective actions, and policy updates.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and site visits to ensure consistent standards of care across the region.

Scheduling & Operations Management

  • Own the scheduling process for the BHT department across the region, including shift coverage, PTO/time-off approvals, and last-minute schedule changes.
  • Ensure adequate BHT coverage across all shifts and sites, proactively adjusting schedules to address gaps, call-outs, or fluctuations in caseload.
  • Manage day-to-day operational needs of the BHT department, including staffing levels and resource allocation.
  • Monitor regional staffing coverage and proactively address gaps or shortages.
  • Collaborate with case management, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Track and report on key operational metrics (staffing levels, training completion, compliance status, turnover, etc.).

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises BHT Leads across the region.
  • Indirectly oversees all regional BHT staff through the BHT Lead structure.
  • Responsible for performance management, coaching, and disciplinary action within the BHT department, in partnership with HR.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a BHT, BHT Lead, or similar behavioral health role required.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff training, development, and retention.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage staff and scheduling across multiple sites or locations within a region.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respond to after-hours staffing needs as required.
