Job Description:

The Registered Nurse will join our esteemed organization in a high and professional manner. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care through assessing the Team Members health status with respect to job tasks and hazards, recognizing and preventing health effects from hazardous exposures and treating worker’s injuries/illnesses. In addition to Occupational Health care, the UrgenCare nurse (under the supervision of the Clinic Leader) is responsible for the delivery of primary, urgent and emergent care in an ambulatory setting with emphases on prevention, treatment and health maintenance.

Job Responsibilities:
(1) Receive Team Members at front desk, determine nature of the visit and progress as directed by Team Members stated complaint.
This may include but is not limited to:
A. Provide first aid.
B. Provide immediate triage and focused nursing assessment skills for any Team Member who presents with needs that require immediate attention. Immediate attention defined as: uncontrolled bleeding, difficulty breathing, symptomatic chest pain, obvious deformity and unsteady gait. Notify mid-level and/or physician on duty of assessment findings and direct care as deemed necessary. If no mid-level and/or physician on duty at time of assessment, using clinical knowledge, acting as Licensed Health Care Professional (LHCP), implement care utilizing Standing Orders and acting within
Registered Nursing Scope of Practice (attached):

(2) Follow Standing Orders as they apply to Team Members presentation and nursing assessment.
(3) Document information into EMR:
A. Note brief history or the reason for visit in the EMR.
B. Obtain and document vital signs per Vital Sign Procedure, including height and weight.
C. Document medications Team member currently is taking OTC and/or prescriptions.
D. Document female Team Members menstrual status.
E. Over the Counter visit under provider direction- appropriate documentation of visit.
(4) Pull Team Members chart and /or create chart.
(5) Prepare examination rooms for Team Members visit, clean after discharge.
(6) Practice safe and efficient nursing care as defined under scope of practice related to specific licensure.
(7) Perform CLIA Waived Testing.
(8) Obtain laboratory samples, medical authorization, and urine drug screen, Breath Alcohol Testing, Respiratory and Hearing Screening including documentation of testing in EMR.
(9) Facilitate call to Safety and Team Relations as needed, including facilitation of Incident Reports by Team Members.
(10) Administer medications (which may include inhalation and intravenous) injections, immunizations and vaccines as instructed or as stated in UrgenCare Procedure manual.
(11) Proficient in intravenous access.
(12) Obtain laboratory samples, complete documentation, and prepare specimen for collection from testing facility by following specific guidelines and/or procedures found in UrgenCare reference notebook.
(13) Follow Standard Precautions as outline in procedure manual.
(14) Perform Equipment Calibrations including documentation including but not limited to: PFT, Hearing Booth, EBT (BAT machine), Vaccine /Medication Refrigerator and Specimen Refrigerator.
(15) Assist and/or perform Team member education.
(16) Stock exam rooms with supplies.
(17) Maintain a clean work area. Exam rooms are to be cleaned as needed and after Team Members visits.
(18) Take responsibility of medical supplies and cleaning of the medical instruments and equipment.
(19) Involvement in performance improvement projects.
(20) Observation and assessment of both the worker and the work environment.
(21) Interpretation and evaluation of the worker's medical and occupational history, subjective complaints, and physical examination, along with any laboratory values or other diagnostic screening tests, industrial hygiene, and personal exposure monitoring values.
(22) Interpretation of medical diagnosis to workers and their employers.
(23) Appraisal of the work environment for potential exposures if necessary
(24) Identification of abnormalities.
Description of the worker's response to the exposures.
Management of occupational and non-occupational illness and injury.
Documentation of the injury or illness
(25) Any other tasks assigned.
(26) Displays active knowledge of HIPPA, maintains strict Team Member confidentiality,
(27) Demonstrates team concept and treats all UrgenCare Medical Clinic staff and Kia Georgia staff with dignity and respect.
(28) Direct and coordinate infection control programs, advising and consulting with specified personnel about necessary precautions.
(29) Provide or arrange for training/instruction of auxiliary personnel or students as necessary.
(30) Refer students or patients to specialized health resources or community agencies furnishing assistance.
(31) Consult with institutions or associations regarding issues and concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing.
(32) Work with individuals, groups, and families to plan and implement programs designed to improve the overall health of communities.
(33) Actively seeks instruction, guidance and/or training if knowledge or skills set is found to be inadequate to instruct, inform and perform duties outlined.
(34) Refer students or patients to specialized health resources or community agencies furnishing assistance.

Administrative
(1) Document information into EMR.
(2) Pull Team Members chart and/or create chart.
(3) Team Member’s files made and documentation in folder per protocol and file backs completed by end of shift.
(4) Perform administrative duties required by Medical Assistant if necessary.
(5) Notification of appropriate Kia Georgia Safety, Team Relations, Managers and Group Leaders of Recordable Injuries/Incidents.
(6) Notification of appropriate Kia Georgia DER, Safety and Team Relations of Non-Negative Urine and/or Alcohol screenings.
(7) Forms- Active knowledge and interpretation of forms relating to UrgenCare At Kia Georgia Medical Clinic.
(8) Inform Clinic Leader of any supplies needed, verbally and by writing supply needed on whiteboard located in Clinic Leader office.
(9) BioHazard, Steri-Cycle preparation as needed and directed by the Clinic Leader.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:
(1) Registered nurse licensee that is in good standing with state issued may be credentialed as Paramedic (or medic) with required skills; obtained licensee must be in good standing with state issued.
(2) Prior experience in occupational health, emergency room, and/or hospital setting helpful but not required.
(3) Commitment to the concepts of occupational and team approach to health care.
(4) Knowledge of AIDET is helpful but not required.
(5) ACLS certification or actively seeking ACLS certification is helpful but not required.
(6) TNCC certification or equivalent is helpful but not required.
(7) Current CPR and AED Certificate required.
(8) Proficient in computer keyboarding and technology.
(9) Ability to work with clinical staff and handle pressure of functioning in fast paced environment.
(10) Ability to exhibit leadership skills and perform administrative duties, including but not limited to taking responsibility, directing, and coordinating medical staff in the absence of Clinical Leader and/or provider.
(11) Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
(12) Upholds current licensure, certifications and annual UrgenCare At Kia Georgia Medical Clinic training.
(13) Engage in research activities related to nursing

Psychology -- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

Customer and Personal Service -- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

English Language -- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
