Compensation
- Starting base pay: $22.03 per hour ($45,822.40 annually)
- Pay may be adjusted based on relevant corrections experience, certifications, specialized credentials, instructor qualifications, and other applicable achievements.
- Employees assigned to evening or night shifts receive a 10% shift differential.

Key Responsibilities
Security and Facility Operations
- Monitor and control inmate activities.
- Apply established policies and operational procedures to identify and address potential safety or security risks.
- Conduct routine security checks and help maintain order throughout the facility.
- Supervise daily inmate activities, including meals, recreation, movement, and work assignments.
- Maintain appropriate authority, structure, and professionalism.
- Model effective supervision practices and support the development of newer officers when appropriate.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, and other incidents.
- Assess developing situations and participate in coordinated responses.
- Follow established safety, security, and emergency-response procedures.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports, logs, and other records concerning inmate behavior, incidents, and daily operations.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with facility requirements.
- Assist less-experienced staff in understanding documentation and reporting standards when appropriate.
- Communicate professionally with inmates, employees, visitors, and other stakeholders.
- Use effective de-escalation and conflict-resolution techniques.
- Manage challenging conversations calmly, respectfully, and constructively.
- Follow and model established safety and security protocols.
- Participate in required drills, training programs, and daily operational activities.
- Take appropriate action to protect staff, inmates, and visitors.
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- No felony convictions
- Any misdemeanor history must meet applicable hiring and approval requirements
- Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings

- The ability to remain calm, alert, and decisive in stressful situations
- Sound judgment and the ability to follow policies and procedures consistently
- Strong observational skills and the ability to recognize potential disturbances or safety concerns

- The ability to work mandatory overtime and any assigned shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including prolonged standing and walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, operating emergency equipment, and continuously wearing an equipment belt
