Department: Specimen Processing
Shift – Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Location: Horsham, PA

Summary
The courier picks up specimens/evidence from the local Philadelphia area and surrounding counties and delivers them to the appropriate Processing department. The courier acts as a Client Support Representative while visiting the clients, listening to any concerns or complaints, polling clients on our service and delivering the responses and issues to the group leader. This position reports directly to the Specimen Processing Supervisor.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- High School Diploma with a clean driving record and valid driver's license
- Previous experience is a plus.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicle.
- Pick up and deliver biological and non-biological specimens and their corresponding paperwork to and from clients and NMS.
- Deliver supplies to clients when requested.
- Retrieve mail each morning from local post office and delivers to main laboratory.
- Document any car maintenance or problems and forward request to Supervisor for action.
- Keep vehicle clean and gassed.
- Inform Supervisor of client concerns
- Verify the receipt of packages from Federal Express
- Verify the samples received from the client.
- Ability to complete an accurate chain of custody documentation.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license
- Good driving record (no major violations in the past 3 years)
- Professional appearance
- Ability to work independently and follow directions.
- Ability to prioritize assignments.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all specimen submissions.
Ability to read and interpret maps and directions, written procedures, and SOPs in English.
Ability to comprehend regulations and SOPs and apply them to work operations.
Ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations in verbal form to group leader and respond to questions in an understandable manner.
Ability to identify and correct errors.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- Ability to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to manipulate computer keyboard, objects, or controls.
- Requires moving/carrying objects from one work location to another and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Specific vision abilities (with correction) include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
