This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full Stack Developer | LabArchives based in the United States.
This fully remote role offers the opportunity to build software that supports researchers and scientific institutions around the world. You will join a focused engineering team developing electronic laboratory notebook, inventory, and scheduling products used across the research community. Working across front-end, back-end, and database layers, you will help shape reliable and scalable SaaS products from development through release. The role combines hands-on software engineering with collaboration across product, operations, and support teams. You will contribute to testing, security, accessibility, and continuous improvements across the development lifecycle. Your work will directly support digital tools that help accelerate scientific research and discovery.
- Collaborate with product, operations, support, and engineering colleagues to design, develop, and maintain a suite of scientific software products.
- Plan, build, test, and release new software features through an iterative development process.
- Contribute across front-end, back-end, and database layers to deliver reliable and maintainable applications.
- Develop and maintain a robust unit testing suite to support software quality and long-term stability.
- Participate in creating and expanding automated testing frameworks and improving development workflows.
- Take part in code reviews to maintain high standards for code quality, maintainability, and engineering practices.
- Contribute to security audits and help identify and address potential application security concerns.
- Participate in accessibility evaluations and help ensure products meet relevant accessibility standards.
- Collaborate across departments to understand product needs, resolve technical challenges, and continuously improve systems and processes.
- Contribute ideas and technical expertise that support the continued growth and evolution of the product portfolio.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong full-stack development experience spanning front-end, back-end, and database technologies.
- Hands-on server-side development experience with frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or PHP, with Ruby on Rails experience preferred.
- Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- Strong knowledge of modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development.
- Familiarity with database design and both object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.
- A strong technology-focused mindset with a passion for learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across product, operations, support, and other business functions.
- Experience with SaaS products in regulated or research-focused environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
- Exposure to accessibility standards such as WCAG and modern security best practices is an advantage.
- Interest in scientific or educational technology and its impact on research and discovery is a plus.
- Ability to work fully remotely during standard business hours.
Benefits:
- Base pay range of $82,000–$140,000 USD, with starting compensation determined by job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
