Job Description

Job Summary: The Senior Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for the quality implementation of behavioral health intervention and prevention services, with direct oversight of behavioral health program operations and leadership of program directors and managers.

In addition to the duties and requirements listed below, YFA expects employees to be committed to incorporating principles of trauma-informed care in all areas of service delivery. Commitment to these principles is demonstrated through active participation in agency-required training, use of trauma-informed practices, and understanding that trauma-informed environments require cultural sensitivity and an emphasis on a safe and respectful environment for all.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide operational oversight of behavioral health and prevention programs, including quality, compliance, outcomes, staffing, and service delivery aligned with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to agency directors, managers, and clinical staff members, ensuring a positive employee cycle for recruitment, engagement, training, performance feedback, and retention.
  • Establish strong internal relationships across all departments to support program directors in optimizing behavioral health and prevention operations and service delivery.
  • Support financial performance management to ensure optimal and balanced resource allocation, maximized revenue cycle management, grant and contract financial outcomes, and high-quality standards of care.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with local and state organizations, managed care entities, provider agencies and community stakeholders to drive community satisfaction and expansion.
  • Support integration of behavioral health services across YFA programs and with community partners.
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion, and manage implementation of new behavioral health and prevention services to meet YFA and community system of care needs.
  • Develop relationships with Universities and implement a robust internship program that attracts potential staff to YFA.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable managed care, juvenile justice, child welfare, counseling, prevention, licensing and accreditation rules and regulations in Florida to guide program implementation, performance, and staff support.
  • Foster and maintain a trauma-informed environment, promoting a positive workplace for staff and clients.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience: Master’s degree in behavioral health with minimum five (5) years of management experience in adolescent behavioral health programming. Active Florida license in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy required, Qualified Supervisor preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong working knowledge of juvenile justice, child welfare, and managed care regulatory requirements in Florida, as well as fiscal management
  • Ability to maintain a wide range of internal and external relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a group/team setting and show respect to others
  • Ability to work at a high level of autonomy, and exhibit sound leadership, decision-making skills and critical thinking
  • Proven problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Skilled in actively listening to concerns, providing a safe space for individuals to express themselves without judgment or blame

Physical Requirements: Position requires work with computers daily. Ability to travel in multi-county areas frequently. Ability to lift 25 pounds, bend, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
