Job Description

Position Summary: The Network Administrator job family is responsible for the administration, reliability, security, and operational integrity of enterprise infrastructure platforms, including network services (connectivity and data transport), storage systems (data storage platforms), compute platforms (servers and processing capacity), and database systems (enterprise data management technologies).

This role family emphasizes infrastructure lifecycle execution, service request fulfillment, incident response, identity and access governance, portfolio management, documentation, education, operational discipline, workload management, and continuous improvement. These roles focus on enterprise platform administration and support rather than direct end-user technical support.

This position may be filled as a Network Administrator I, II, or III depending on qualifications, experience, and organizational need.

Network Administrator I

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of Information Technology or technical services experience

Summary Scope: Entry-level role performing foundational network and infrastructure support activities under general supervision. Supports basic operational tasks, service requests, monitoring activities, and assists with incident response and documentation.

Network Administrator II

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical/computer-oriented trade school certification or Associate degree in a computer-related field
    • High School Diploma with additional relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of certification or degree
  • 3 years of experience in a Network and/or Systems Administrator role

Summary Scope: Mid-level role responsible for independently performing network administration activities, including lifecycle support, service request fulfillment, incident response, and identity/access support. Works with moderate autonomy while ensuring adherence to operational standards and procedures.

Network Administrator III

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical/computer-oriented trade school certification or Associate degree in a computer-related field
    • High School Diploma with equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of certification or degree
  • 5 or more years of experience in a Network and/or Systems Administrator role
  • Network and/or Systems Administration-related certification required

Summary Scope: Senior-level role providing advanced network and infrastructure administration across enterprise environments. Responsible for complex troubleshooting, major incident resolution, advanced service requests, and enforcement of operational standards. Provides technical leadership and contributes to continuous improvement, documentation governance, and cross-functional collaboration.
