Network / IT Administrator at KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH – Soldotna, Alaska

<div style="text-align: justify"><span><span>Under the general direction and supervision of the Systems Manager the Network/IT Administrator implements, maintains, monitors and troubleshoots LAN/WAN infrastructure, servers, IP Telephony, and enterprise software. This position assists the Systems Manager in development and management of the Borough’s computing environment. In addition, this position assists the Systems Manager in staff deployment and supervision when requested by the Systems Manager.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span><span><span>High school diploma or GED; four years’ experience in a multi-user computing environment, at least two of which involved administering a computer network; a Cisco Certified Network Associate and Microsoft Certified System Administrator certification or the equivalent knowledge and competency; experience with Microsoft Exchange, VMWare vSphere, Cisco IOS, Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Unity Messaging desirable; and have a valid Alaska driver's license to perform all job functions.</span></span></span></div><br><strong id="isPasted"><u>This position resides in office. &nbsp;Not a remote position.</u></strong>
<ol> <li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Install, configure, and maintain servers, network components, network cabling, backup systems, IP telephony and other related equipment, devices, and systems.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Assist users in analyzing and developing solutions to their computing needs.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Establish and perform maintenance programs following Borough and vendor standards.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Write and maintain system standards and documentation.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Stay current on IT trends so as to better recommend and apply solutions to the Borough’s computing needs.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Educate IT staff regarding emerging computing technologies.</span></span></span></span> </li><li style="text-align: justify"><span><span style=""><span><span>Assist in ensuring the recoverability of the Borough’s computing environment.</span></span></span></span></li></ol><span><span><b><u><span><span>Other Functions</span></span></u></b><b><span><span>:</span></span></b></span></span><ol> <li style="text-align: justify"><span><span><span>Other related duties as assigned.</span></span></span></li></ol>
