Virnig Manufacturing is a leading manufacturer of high-quality skid steer attachments with over 35 years of industry experience. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to support our operations in Fort Madison, Iowa.
This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving the equipment, systems, and facilities that keep our operation running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently while supporting production needs.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment, material handling systems, building infrastructure, and production support equipment. This position performs preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, inspections, and equipment installations while helping minimize downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do
Equipment Maintenance & Repair- Perform maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment including lasers, press brakes, CNC machines, and other production equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Maintain and repair electric, pneumatic, and manual tools
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and uptime
- Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and installations
- Maintain building systems including doors, dock plates, lighting, HVAC systems, air handling equipment, air lines, and plumbing systems
- Perform grounds maintenance and general facility upkeep as needed
- Support shop layout changes and facility improvements
- Maintain and repair forklifts, hoists, jibs, clamps, slings, and other lifting equipment
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on material handling equipment
- Follow and perform lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities
- Conduct and document daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual safety inspections
- Support OSHA compliance and company safety initiatives
- Communicate and enforce safety expectations with contractors and vendors
- Participate in Safety Committee activities and provide recommendations for improvement
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Track maintenance activities, costs, and equipment history
- Communicate equipment issues and repair status to leaders and production teams
- Work closely with production personnel to minimize downtime and maintain workflow
- Assist production teams as needed
- Support other maintenance team members in completing projects and repairs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical, vocational, or trade school training preferred
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance required
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Forklift and hoist experience required
- Basic computer skills required
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices
- Experience with welding, HVAC, PLCs, or industrial controls is a plus
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, or on-call as needed

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and reaching
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in confined spaces when required
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely and with precision
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments that may include heat, cold, dust, noise, and varying conditions
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, and other equipment as required
