Project Manager Transformer Services

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Manager Transformer Services based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to manage complex transformer service projects that support the reliability and performance of critical power infrastructure.
The successful candidate will oversee projects from initiation through completion, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives are achieved.
Working closely with engineers, technicians, customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams, this position plays a key role in successful project delivery.
The role combines technical understanding, project leadership, customer engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is ideal for an experienced project manager who enjoys solving challenges, coordinating diverse stakeholders, and driving operational excellence.

Accountabilities:

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading transformer service projects throughout their full lifecycle, ensuring effective execution, customer satisfaction, and compliance with operational standards. The role requires strong coordination skills, proactive risk management, and the ability to successfully deliver projects in a complex industrial environment.

  • Manage transformer service projects from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, and final closure.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans covering scope, timelines, resource requirements, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, field technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and customer representatives.
  • Act as the primary customer contact, maintaining clear communication, managing expectations, and ensuring alignment throughout project execution.
  • Identify project risks, challenges, and potential delays while developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Track project performance, key performance indicators, milestones, and financial results, providing regular updates to leadership.
  • Manage project budgets, monitor costs, approve expenditures, and support efficient resource utilization.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project management processes, tools, and execution standards.
  • Contribute to the improvement of service operations through lessons learned, collaboration, and process optimization.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support customer meetings, vendor coordination, and project activities.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced project management professional with a background in transformer services, industrial equipment, or related infrastructure projects. They should have strong organizational skills, technical understanding, and the ability to lead complex initiatives while collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field; alternatively, an associate degree with significant experience in the transformer or substation industry.
  • Minimum of five years of project management experience, preferably focused on transformer services, power systems, or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver complex projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Understanding of transformer technology, maintenance processes, repair activities, and service operations is preferred.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating technical resources.
  • Strong customer relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify risks, solve problems, and make informed decisions in dynamic project environments.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • PMP certification or an equivalent project management qualification is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have existing work authorization that permits employment in the United States.
