Job Description
Summary:
The buyer is responsible for building strong relationships with multiple suppliers using strategic planning/MRP to order, source, and receive material on time while negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.

- Responsible for communication to suppliers regarding material requirements, addressing concerns, and expediting deliveries.
- Communicate effectively across the team to maintain optimum inventory levels needed to support sales.
- Train and mentor incoming team members within the department per SMC guidelines.
- Sets and drives improvement pertaining to supplier delivery, cost and inventory turns performance.
- Develop and manage vendor relationships, including but not limited to negotiations, purchasing inventory, non-inventory, transportation carriers.
- Resolve logistic related issues by working with the appropriate personnel in the organization to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Serve as a resource to resolve complex purchasing problems and issues internally and at supplier levels.
- Provide recommendations to optimize and support the supply chain processes and improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with other members of the team to support account issues, quotes; perform other related tasks as requested.
- Participate in projects as needed and provide a balanced focus on customer service; build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and key suppliers.

Required Education and Experience:
Computer proficiency with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Professional experience following purchasing policies and procedures.
Experience negotiating vendor terms, pricing, delivery, and networking.
Five years of purchasing experience using an ERP system.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Knowledge of buying electronic products is highly desirable.
