Coastal Kids is a leading pediatric medical group in Southern California. We are growing and seeking dedicated and skilled Medical Assistants and Receptionists to join our team throughout Orange County. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing back-office support and assisting our wonderful clinicians in delivering high-quality patient care.

Searching for a superior Medical Receptionist with a passion for pediatric care!!!

Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:45pm Rotational Saturdays 8:00am-12:00pm

Location: Irvine,CA

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Serves patients and visitors by greeting them in a friendly and welcoming manner as they arrive at our offices. Completes and updates all required information, collects payments, and provides other information as requested. Discharges patients after their appointment, providing them with any pertinent information as well as follow-up appointments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list may not include all the duties that may be assigned.

  1. Check-in patients upon arrival, which includes updating demographics, insurance information, PCP, pharmacy, collecting co-pays and patient balances, and providing consents for signature as well as appropriate health questionnaires.
  1. Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and follow-up appointments.
  1. Verify patient insurance through Batch Eligibility or on demand. Contact patients whose insurance is not active, or PCP is not appropriate.
  1. Post-patient charges and payments. Complete charge and payment reconciliation.
  1. Scan and upload documents through the Document Management system.
  1. Sort and deliver mail and PA documents received by courier. Maintain a clean work area and patient waiting area.
  1. Participate in staff and educational meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  • Upon hire, and for the duration of the employment period, a driver’s license must be active and valid.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to learn & practice Pediatric Associate procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Requires proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal skills to communicate with patients, providers, and staff in written documents.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired.
  • Interact effectively, support staff & maintain a professional working relationship.
  • Provide excellent customer service; greet & receive patients/ visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Maintain professional and excellent phone skills & etiquette, must be able to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Use good judgment & maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Must be able to file alpha and numerically.
  • Requires experience in using a computer system, scanner, printer, fax etc.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Adhere to all organizational information security policies and protect all sensitive information, including but not limited to ePHI and PHI (Protected Health Information) in accordance with organizational policy, Federal, State, and local regulations.

The expected base hourly range for this position, located in Irvine, CA, is $22.00 to $28.52. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Pediatric Associates offers are based on several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s education, work experience, and certifications, all of which are dependent on the requirements of the specific role.
